Former Sanger High standout Jalen Cropper may have had his best performance yet as a Fresno State Bulldog after the four-star re- cruit finished with mon- ster numbers to help his team beat Utah State on Saturday, Nov. 14, 35-16.
Cropper, who began the first few games of the season held to con- servative numbers, was finally able to break loose for the Bulldogs as he hauled in 10 catches for 202 yards and three touchdowns.
He was the recipient of Fresno State’s first score of the game when quarterback Jake Hae- ner connected with him on a 9-yard touchdown pass to put the Bulldogs up 7-6 with just under five minutes left in the first quarter.
Cropper put his team up again in the second quarter when Haener found him streaking up the left hash marks near midfield and put the ball on the mark – allowing the sophomore receiver to catch in stride. Crop- per’s long strides then easily took him to pay dirt for a 59-yard touch- down reception, allow- ing his team to go up

Former Sanger Apache standout Jalen Cropper had a huge game from Fresno State in their 35-16 victory over Utah State on Nov. 14. The sophomore wide receiver finished the game with 3 touchdown receptions and 10 catches for 202 yards. The perfor- mance earned him the title of Mountain West Player of the Week.
MVT Staff Report
Former Dinuba High and Fresno State wres- tling standout, Jacob Wright, announced on Twitter that he will be transferring to the Uni- versity of Wyoming.
The announcement was made on Nov. 11.
Wright was a mem- ber of the Bulldogs wres- tling program that was dropped on Oct. 16 in a cost-cutting move by the university. Wright posted a 55-22 record at Fresno State and will have two years of eligibility re- maining.
In his post, Wright said this has been an en- during year for everyone - especially for the wres- tling community, howev- er we will persevere.
Wright went on to post that he was thankful for all of his experiences growing up and wres- tling in the Central Valley, “This community is truly incredible and will always have a special place in my
heart.”
In a match held on
Feb. 7 against Wyoming, Wright posted a 7-4 win over Dewey Krueger at 157 as the Bulldogs ended a three-match win streak by the Cowboys.
Fresno State dropped their wrestling program (along with men's tennis and lacrosse) for the sec- ond time in 14 years as a result of financial dif- ficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The university dropped wrestling back in 2006, also citing financial diffi- culties in maintaining the program.
The Bulldogs' wres- tling program gained new life when the university brought it back in 2017. That year, Wright became the Bulldog's first recruit to the revived program.
Had Fresno State man- aged to keep the program this year, Wright would have been joined fellow Dinuba High wrestling standout Isaiah Perez.
14-13.
Putting an exclama-
tion on the Fresno State performance, Cropper hauled in another long touchdown in the fourth quarter when Haener connected with him for a 44-yard touchdown strike with just over five minutes left in the game, sealing the vic- tory for the Bulldogs.
The performance earned Cropper the title of Mountain West Of- fensive Player of the Week, becoming only the third Fresno State player to receive the ac- colade in the past three years. Senior running back Ronnie Rivers was also named MW Offen- sive Player of the Week for his performance last week.
Prior to this year’s se- lections, the last Bulldog to be named MW Offen- sive Player of the Week was former quarterback and Dinuba native Mar- cus McMaryion. Mc- Maryion was named the MW Offensive Player of the Week three times in his Fresno State career. The first time, in No- vember of 2017, came four years after the last Bulldog received the recognition – which was Derek Carr in 2013. McMaryion was named MW Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 17 and Oct. 1 of 2018.
And Cropper wasn’t the only former Apache to shine in Fresno State football’s recent vic- tory. Senior linebacker Arron Mosby was also
unleashed during the Bulldogs win.
Mosby finished with the second most tackles on defense for Fresno State, with a total of six. His four solo tackles led all defenders.
Former Apache and true freshman Kosi Agina once again saw playing time for the Bulldogs and pitched in on defense with two solo tackles.
Fresno State im- proved to 3-1 on the season and will look to improve on that record when they take on ri- val San Jose State on Nov. 21 at Bulldog Sta- dium. Saturday’s game is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. and will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
