Reedley College football runs win streak to 10

Make it 23 wins in the last 25 games for the Reedley Col- lege Tiger football team. The winning streak over the past two seasons was extended to 10 after a 34-10 victory over the Santa Rosa Junior Col- lege Bearcats in Santa Rosa on Sept. 18.
Next up for the 3-0 Tigers will be a 2 p.m. matchup Sat- urday, Sept. 25, with the 1-2 Laney College Eagles. Laney broke into the win column last week with a 30-29 home win over Shasta College.
A 39-yard field goal by Laney's Jesse Manzo proved to be the difference. Eagle quarterback Carson Jarrett threw for 193 yards and one touchdown but was intercept- ed three times.
In Santa Rosa, sophomore
quarterback Jordan Solomon (Las Vegas) threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns. Dinuba's Josh Magana also saw
action, completing 9 of 12 in the air for 119 yards and a score.
After a scoreless first quarter, Solomon found Ro-
man Rodriguez (Clovis North) for a 4-yard scoring pass with 9:10 left in the first half. Par- ish Hayes caught the his first
of two scoring passes.

increased the lead to 21-3 early in the second half. San- ta Rosa cut the lead to 21-10 before an 84-yard touchdown pass from Solomon to Josh Higgins (Buchanan).
Tamicus Napier (Murfrees- boro, Tenn.) call south of scor- ing with a 3-yard touchdown run in the final two minutes. Napier finished the afternoon with 96 yards in 19 carries.
Michael Jordan (Monrovia) and Nathan Bohiken (Reedley High)werenamedthe team’s co-defensive players of the game.
Tiger head coach Rob Hartenfels said that Reedley has a tough game every week despite the opponents’ current records. “Our guys are going to go out there and compete every week, no matter who,’ said the coach.
 Tigers volleyball earns split in matches

The Reedley College women's volleyball team fell just short in their quest to win their conference opener on Sept. 15. But the next day, the Tigers up their first win over Los Medanos in the LMC classic in Pittsburg.
Reedley dropped a 25-18, 21-25, 16-25, 25- 19, 15-12 decision to West Hills Lemoore in the Central Valley Conference opener for both teams. At the LMC Classic, the Tigers posted a 25-17, 25-22, 15-25 28-26 win over the host school before falling in five games to College of the Siskiyous.
A Sept. 17 conference match at Taft Col- lege was postponed.
This week, the Tigers traveled to Fresno
City College on Sept. 23 before a Friday, Sept. 25, home home match at 6 p.m. against Merced College.
The Reedley College women's soccer team recorded a pair of 2-0 wins last week to improve to 3-1-1 on the season.
The Tigers used second half goals from Amber Becerra (Reedley) and Denise Mar- tinez (Kingsburg) to defeat DeAnza 2-0 in Reedley on Sept. 14. Isabella Salcedo (Tulare Western) and Martinez had goals in the 2-0 win over Chabot in Hayward on Sept. 17.
Reedley closes out the non-conference portion of the schedule Friday, Sept. 24, in San Luis Obispo against Cuesta College be- fore opening conference play Tuesday, Sept. 28, with a 1 p.m. matchup in Visalia against College of the Sequoias.
 Apaches XC shines
Sanger High senior David De Loera won the 3-mile varsity boys race in 15 minutes 34.96 seconds during the Sanger Invita- tional at Avocado Lake on Sept. 10.

Reedley has a bye this week, and opens North Yosemite League
play in Fresno against Hoover High on Friday, Oct. 1.
Edison 40, Dinuba 20
At Dinuba, the Em- perors yielded a 100 yard-plus fumble return for a touchdown and couldn't rally from a large second-half deficit.
Casimiro Barra- gan threw TD passes to Mikey Olvera and Isaiah Martinez, while Brandon Guido had a 67-yard scoring run.
CV Christian 28, Immanuel 0
At Visalia, the host Cavaliers broke the game open with 14 points in the fourth quarter to send the Ea- gles to their third defeat in as many completed
games.

Davila III rushed for 83 of Immanuel's 87 rush yards. Immanuel hosts Yosemite High at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in the Eagles home finale at County Line Stadium. It will be Homecoming and Senior Night for the school.
Orosi 48, Avenal 8
At Ed Coats Stadi- um, the Cardinals (3-1) scored 14 points in each of the first three quarter to rout the Buccaneers.
Sophomore Andrew Camarillo rushed for 187 yards on just 13 carries, scoring three touchdowns, while Alex Orgega added 82 yards and a touchdown.

CROSS COUNTRY Big week for SHS at Woodbridge Invite
Sanger High had an- other strong showing last week after sweeping the team championships at its own Sanger Invita- tional meet on Sept. 11.
On Sept. 18, the Apaches girls finished in eighth place in the girls 3-mile champion- ship race at the 40th annual Woodbridge Invitational in Irvine. Four girls, all posting personal bests, earned medals. Those medal- ists were Sienna Bi- anchi (14th in 17 min- utes, 55 seconds), Leah Mendibles (17th, 18:01), Nereyda Alvarez (25th, 18:06) and Anayacsi Di- az (81st, 18:51).
Also turning in per- sonal bests were Alexa Vaca (19:56) and Mar- cella Cuellar (20:57).
The Sanger High boys placed 29th in the Sweep- stakes championship race. David De Loera
finished 96th in 15:19) while lifetime bests were turned in by Dan- iel Galvez (15:35), Jared Borders (16:12), Jona- than Marcial (16:38) and Emmanuel Vaca (16:57).
At the Sanger Invite, De Loera won the boys varsity race in 15:34.96 while Bianchi placed
second in the girls race at 18:58.99.
Sanger High will compete at the Golden Eagle Invitational at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at Woodward Park in Fres- no. The Apaches then will be idle until the Oct. 9 Clovis Invitational, al- so at Woodward Park.

Dinuba High football
Senior running back Sebastian Olivera rushed 31 times for 170 yards and two touchdowns in Dinuba High's 28-20 victory over El Diamante on Sept. 10. Through four games, Olivera leads the Emperors in rushing with 270 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
