Mid Valley Times ar- eas of Fresno County saw the active case per 10,000 people go into deeper red. The Lac Jac region west of Reedley and south of Parlier had those numbers soar to 259 per 10,000 in a mid- week update last week.
Areas with numbers above 100 per 100K were eastern Sanger, the Parlier region, Or- ange Cove, Del Rey and south toward Kingsburg. Even the foothill areas including Squaw Valley increased to 75 per 10K.
Vaccination numbers also increased in both counties, but at a slow- er pace than the recent spike in case numbers. Fresno County's rate of fully vaccinated grew to more than 471,000 doses, while in Tulare County fully vaccina- tion numbers increased to 226,522 (40.2 percent of the population) as of its most recent update on Sept. 19.
The death count in Tu- lare County increased to 889 (up six for the week). The number of recov- ered people was 55,801, but the rate dipped slightly to 91.9 percent.
As of the most recent update on Tuesday, Sept. 21, there had been 125,287 confirmed cases (41.3 daily cases per 10,000 population) of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID- 19) out of 1,662,129 tests in Fresno County, with 1,889 deaths and 367 hospitalizations (82 in ICU).

Through the Sept. 21 update, Reedley (including immediate surrounding rural areas) shows 4,484 cases (3,800 in the city proper) and 73 deaths; Parlier was at 3,178 (2,600 in city) cases with 41 deaths and Orange Cove had 1,600 (2,959 regional) cases and 13 deaths. Del Rey increased to 324 cases (975 in region) while Fowler had 1,378 cases (1,100 in the city) and 22 deaths through Sept. 21. Breakdowns by cities/regions through Sept. 21 show 5,208 total cases in Dinuba, 1,760 in Orosi, 875 in Cutler, 321 in Traver, 88 in the rural area south of Reedley and 34 in the area southeast of Orange Cove.
