Santesteban will oversee
12 sports at Reedley College, five on the men’s side and sev- en women’s programs.
Santesteban was an All- Conference selection in 1987 and 1988 as a member of the Fresno City College Men’s Soccer team.
He then transferred to Fresno State, where he played for legendary Head Coach Jose Elgorriaga and won con- secutive Big West Champion- ships during the 1989 and 1990 seasons.
He graduated from Fres- no State with bachelor's and master's degrees in physical education.
Santesteban earned his doctorate degree in sports administration at the Univer- sity of New Mexico. He was also an assistant coach for the men’s soccer team at the uni- versity.
From 2000-2003, Santeste- ban was the head coach and physical education Instructor at Southwestern Oregon Com- munity College.
In 2004, Santesteban was named athletic director and head men’s soccer coach at San Jacinto College in Hous- ton.
In his eight years there as head coach, the Coyotes achieved numerous No. 1 na- tional rankings, one National Junior College Athletic As- sociation (NJCAA) runner-up finish, and three Final Four

“It is still in our hands. We control our own destiny. We have to go out and take care of business,” Velarde said. “Soccer is a game where anything can happen so we have to remain consistent and keep on playing.”
Velarde said the team's maturity has been a catalyst for the team's recent success.
“We have grown a lot with our char- acter throughout the season,” Velarde said. “I push them to be competitors and they are responding. We have kept the momentum going.”

Josh Allen projected No. 1 pick
Josh Allen, former Reedley College Tigers quarterback (2014), has been projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.
Kiper Jr. is the primary draft analysts for ESPN and his mock drafts are considered very accurate.
Allen played quarterback at the University of Wyoming the past three seasons.
The 2018 NFL Draft will be televised on Thursday, April 26, on ESPN.

The Reedley College Ti- gers men's basketball team sits in fifth place in the Cen- tral Valley Conference after a win over Merced College on Jan. 17 and a loss to Fresno City College on Jan. 20.
As of Jan. 23, the Tigers were 6-12 overall and 2-4 in the CVC.
On Jan. 17, the Tigers de- feated Merced College 81-73 in Merced.
Ruben Parks led Reedley College with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Elijah Jefferies had 20 points, while Alfredo Jimenez had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Hassan Bolden had 12 points.
On Jan. 20, the Tigers lost 100-59 to Fresno City College in Reedley.
Jimenez had 16 points. Parks had 15 points, while Bolden scored 14.
The Tigers played Porter- ville College on Jan. 24. No score was available at press- time.
They then will play West
Hills-Coalinga on Saturday, Jan. 27, in Coalinga.
RC Women's Basketball
The Reedley College Ti- gers women's basketball team is on a three-game los- ing streak and was at 1-4 in the CVC following losses to Merced College and Fresno City College.
On Jan. 17, the Tigers lost to Merced College 83-56 in Merced.
I'man Conley led Reedley College with 17 points, while Gerniah Martin had 14.
On Jan. 20, the Tigers lost 68-47 to Fresno City College in Reedley.
Martin had 22 points and 14 rebounds. Conley had 11 points.
Reedley College hosted Porterville College on Jan. 24. No score was available at presstime.
They then will play West Hills-Lemoore on Saturday, Jan. 27, in Lemoore.

Santesteban won four NJCAA District Coach of the Year awards and coached two NJCAA Players of the Year. Many of his players transfer to NCAA and National Asso- ciation of Intercollegiate Ath- letics schools (NAIA) then play at the professional level, including Major League Soc- cer (MLS).
Santesteban left San Ja- cinto in 2012 to become a tech- nical adviser for the United States Soccer Federation, which included a stint as an assistant coach for the Boys’ U14 and U15 national teams.
From there, Santesteban went to the University of the Virgin Islands and led the men’s soccer team to an ap- pearance in the Final Four.
As interim athletic direc- tor there, he guided the de- partment into the NAIA.
In 2016, Santesteban re- turned to the Central Valley and served as the technical director of the California Od- yssey Soccer Club, the most successful youth soccer club in the Fresno Area.
He also spearheaded the club’s return to the United States Soccer Development Academy, the highest level of youth soccer in the country. Santesteban has held numer- ous National Committee roles, including the National Chair for Soccer in the NJCAA, as well as All-America Commit- tee Chair for Junior Colleges with the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America).
