We will have a presenta- tion about a “healthy body, healthy brain” on Wednes- day, Dec. 13, in the senior room at the Reedley Senior Center.

The city of Reedley is accepting students for
its 2017-18 preschool

Fine and Performing Arts at Reedley College that’s planned for the campus. The evening will include dinner and cocktails from the Wakehouse Woodfire Grill and Barrel; art; a silent auction; a performance by the Reedley College Choir;

An anonymous donor’s $1 million gift to Fresno State will fund two areas of student research in genetics and mo- lecular biology as well as The President’s Circle of Excel- lence fund.
The gift was announced earlier this fall at a ceremony at the university’s Science II
Building. At the event, Presi- dent Joseph Castro also intro- duced Christopher Meyer, the new dean of the College of Sci- ence and Mathematics. Meyer started July 20.
Castro said the anonymous gift will be divided this way:
• An amount of $500,000 will fund undergraduate, team-based research in biol- ogy or chemistry that features
experiences for students in genetics and molecular biol- ogy.
• The other half is for The President’s Circle for Excel- lence, a fund that the Fresno State Foundation maintains for private gifts that the Fres- no State president distributes at his discretion to meet the needs of smaller programs on campus. These programs in-
clude the Student Cupboard, the Good Samaritan Fund and scholarships.
Castro expressed appre- ciation for the anonymous do- nor’s generosity to strengthen the university’s aims and to help students succeed. He said “this act of kindness and compassion for our students is
