Florian Stash had 16 points to help lead the Reedley High Pirates boys basketball team to their first win of the 2017-18 season.
The Pirates defeated the Firebaugh High School Eagles 52-31 on Nov. 29 at Reedley High School.
The game was part of the Eighth Annual Golden Bear Classic, which was held Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
Sierra Pacific High School from Hanford and Reedley High co-hosted the tournament.
The Pirates went 3-1 in the tournament. As of Dec. 5, the Pirates were 3-2 overall.
In the win over Firebaugh on Nov. 29, Augie Villarreal and Alex Otuna each had 10 points.
On Nov. 30, the Pirates de- feated Orosi High 70-56.
Reedley High took a 26-23 lead into halftime and had a big fourth quarter, outscoring Orosi 24-12 to secure the win.
The Pirates then defeated
Woodlake High 68-28 on Dec. 1. They lost 57-42 to Riverdale High on the final day of the tournament on Dec. 2.
No statistics were avail- able for the final three games. Coach Ferrell said that go- ing 3-1 in the tournament was a good way to rebound from a season opening loss to Orange
Cove High on Nov. 21.
“This tournament was a
big confidence builder for us,” Ferrell said. “We got some tal- ented kids on our team. It is just building belief in them.”
The Pirates play Fowler High School on Thursday, Dec. 7, at Reedley High School.
They then will compete and co-host the Dinuba Tour- nament Wednesday, Dec. 13 to Saturday, Dec. 16.
Reedley High opens the tournament on Dec. 13 against Central Valley Christian High at Reedley High.
RHS Girls Basketball
The Reedley High Pirates girls basketball team competed in the Hoover High School Tour-
nament Dec. 6 to Saturday, Dec. 9 at Hoover High in Fresno.
As of Dec. 5, the Pirates were 0-3 on the season.
RHS Small Ball Camp
Reedley High boys and girls basketball teams will be host a small ball camp for kids in Kinder- garten to eighth grades Jan.13,20,27andFeb.3at Reedley High School.
These are the dai- ly times for the camps: K-second grade, 8:30 to 10 a.m., third to fifth grade, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and sixth to eighth grade, 11:30 to 1 p.m.
Cost for the camp is $40 before Dec. 15 and $50 after.
Registration fees include a reversible camp jersey.

The Reedley High Pirates boys soccer team opened their 2017-18 season competing in the Harold S. Young Tour- nament at Buchanan High School in Clovis.
Reedley High went 0-2 in the Champions Bracket at the tournament, held Nov. 30 to Dec. 2
Reedley High opened the Harold S. Young Tournament on Nov. 30, with a 1-0 loss to Central High School.
They then lost to Central Valley High School from Ce- res 3-2.
The Pirates were coming off a 1-0 loss to Dinuba on Nov.
29.
The Pirates hosted
Golden West High School on Dec. 5. No score was available at presstime.
They then will play Lind- say High School on Thursday, Dec. 7 at Lindsay High.
The Pirates host Orosi High School on Monday, Dec. 11 and Kingsburg High School on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Sal Gonzalez Field.

After winning five out of their first six games, the Reedley College Tigers women's basketball team went 1-2 at the Tom Gilcrest Invitational Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 at College of the Sequoias in Visalia.
The Tigers lost the open- ing round game on Nov. 30 75-60 to Ventura College.
Nyla Curtis had 16 points, while Zavia Barlow had 15 points and seven re- bounds. Stephanie Cervantes
had eight points and six re- bounds.
Reedley College defeat- ed Sacramento City College 66-55 on Dec. 1.
Reedley College raced out to a 26-12 lead after the first quarter and led 36-22 at halftime. They held off a Sacramento City College charge in the second half.

Eagles boys hoops win tournament championship
Nate Kendricks earns tournament MVP honors
The Eagles opened the tournament on Nov. 30 with a 75-58 victory over Castlemont High.
Kendricks had 28 points, while Lloyd had 23. Freshman
Shawn Rodgers had 12. Immanuel then defeated Kennedy High 73-64 in the second round of the tourna-
ment on Dec. 1.
Kendricks led the Eagles
with 42 points, six rebounds and four steals, while Lloyd had 17 points.
“Gavin has improved a lot and he is a dominant force down low,” Woods said. “We have some younger guys who will have the opportunity to step up. We have guys who have put in their time and put in the work. It is now their turn to shine.”

Nate Kendricks, Immanuel High School Eagles point guard, returns for his senior season.
Kendricks was named the Most Valuable Player at the Eagle Classic Tournament.
The Eagle Classic Tournament was played Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 at Everett High School in Salinas.
Kendricks scored 28 points, 42 points and 29 points in three games to help lead Immanuel to the tournament title.

Chris Woods, first-year Immanuel High Eagles boy’s basketball coach, knows the shoes he has to fill are big. But he is up for the challenge.
Woods and the Eagles have a lot of changes taking place in 2017 but one thing re- mains the same: the expecta- tions of winning.
“We have high expecta- tions and big shoes to fill,” Wood said. “We are staying with the culture of being confident and successful and making sure we are putting in the work. Nothing is handed to us we have to earn it.”
The Immanuel High Ea- gles boys basketball team is
off to a 3-1 start after winning

Eagle Classic Tournament played Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.
The Eagles defeated the Fountain Valley High Barons 67-56 to earn the tournament championship on Dec. 2 at Ev- erett High School in Salinas.
Nate Kendricks, who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, finished the championship game with 29 points, while Gavin Lloyd had 19 points. Malachi Henry add- ed eight points.
Lloyd and Henry were se- lected to the All-Tournament team.
Immanuel defeated Castle- mont High from Oakland and Kennedy High from Richmond to earn a spot in the finals.
