Fire damages vacated house in Parlier
Cal Fire crews responded to a structure fire in a Parlier neigh- borhood on the afternoon of May 14.
The fire was reported sometime around 2:30 p.m. Smoke could be seen billowing from the
roof of the home as firefighters worked to put out the flames. Neighbors who live in the areas of Fourth Street and Foothill Drive said the home was aban- doned but they believed home- less people would stay at the location from time to time.
In all four engines from Cal Fire responded to the fire including an ambulance from the city of Selma. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

reported in the 1300 block of J Street. The driver of was contacted at the scene and reportedly found to be driving while under the influence.

• A probation search was conducted in the 2700 block of 4th street. • A probation search was conducted in the 2200 block of Acacia Avenue. • A homeless camp was located near a ca- nal under the Academy Bridge, near California Avenue. One subject was arrested for tres- passing after refusing to leave.
• A subject was report- edly unconscious and possibly not breath- ing in the 600 block of Academy Avenue. Of- ficers located a subject
who was breathing but drifting in and out of consciousness due to a possible overdose of il- legal narcotic. The sub- ject was transported to a local hospital.
• A subject was arrest- ed in the 100 block of Faller Avenue for being in possession of illegal narcotics.
• A subject was arrested for violating a domestic restraining order in the 2900 block of Jenni Av- enue.
Saturday, May 16
There were 47 (day) calls for service and no traffic citations were is- sued.
• A subject reportedly had a mental breakdown in the 1500 block of Cherry Street and was sent for a 72-hour men- tal health evaluation.
• A two-year-old child was reportedly walking around unattended in the
1000 block of Harrison Avenue. Officer’s were able to locate the child’s residence and the moth- er responded from out of town to take custody of the child. The incident was reported to Child Protective Services.
• A DUI hit-and-run was reported in the 900 block of K Street. The causing party attempted to flee and was located several blocks away, where officers arrested the subject for DUI.
• A subject was arrested for being in possession of an illegal amount of pepper spray (over 2.5 ounces) in the 2900 block of Holt Avenue.
• A subject was arrested for being in possession of an illegal narcotic in the 100 block of Faller Avenue.

Matt Tiger - Immanuel High Football
Immanuel High’s Matt Tiger capped o  a stellar prep football career for the Eagles by earning
a ceremonial spot on the County All-Stars for the annual Central California All-Star football game. Tiger rushed for 1,859 yards and 16 touchdowns to help lead IHS to a 9-3 record in 2019. As the Eagles’ quarterback in 2018, he passed for 970 yards and 11 touchdowns. In three varsity seasons, he rushed for 2,881 yards and 31 TDs.
