Sanger hosts annual Job Fair
The city of Sanger held its Fifth Annual Job and Re- source Fair on Oct. 1 at the Sanger Community Cen- ter. A myriad of booths, representing as many as 1,600 job openings, were on hand at the event.
UPPER RIGHT: Among the many booths available at the Oct. 1 job fair was Gap Inc.’s Fresno Distribution Center, who is currently hiring in preparation for the upcoming holiday sea- son. Here, a representative provides information to one of Tuesday’s attend- ees.
LOWER RIGHT: Officer Henry Diaz of the Sanger Police Department spoke to attendees at the job fair. One thing Officer Diaz made available to those who attended his booth was the option for residents to go along on ride-alongs. “I went on a lot of ride-alongs before becoming a police of- ficer,” said Diaz. “It really helped me give a better idea of what law enforce- ment was all about.” Diaz also pointed out that the Sanger Police Department is currently looking to fill a few open positions.

Ruiz 4 Kids has opened the application process for the 2019- 2020 Mini-Grants for Teachers Program and teachers may apply on- line at ruiz4kids.org.
Applications must be postmarked by Fri- day, Nov. 8, in order to qualify for the mini- grants
“Teachers are the most important invest- ment a parent can make for their child,” said Blanca Santana, Ruiz 4 Kids Mini-Grants for Teachers Chairman. “And, unfortunately, some classrooms have a difficult time even providing teachers with the basic needs to engage students and show them what they can accomplish. We’re pleased to be able to offer a program where teachers can get some assistance — whether it’s for basic needs or a creative project.”
The grant is open to teachers in grades K-12 serving public schools
within a 35-mile radi- us of Dinuba. Grants will be awarded up to $1,000. The align with the objectives of the Ruiz 4 Kids organiza- tion, teachers inter- ested in submitting a grant application are reminded to ensure their intended projects are either for basic classroom needs or cre- ative projects that will enhance their students learning experience.
In 2018, Ruiz 4 Kids awarded $98,686 to teachers in California, Texas and South Caro- lina. More than $57,000 was awarded to teach- ers in California.
Today, Ruiz 4 Kids works to fund two chil- dren/education pro- grams: scholarships to high school seniors as well as community col- lege transfers and the Mini-Grants for Teach- ers program.
