Lorinda Leddington was chosen as the North Yosem- ite League's Most Valuable Player for helping lead the
Reedley High Pirates girls water polo team to a fourth straight NYL Title. Jade Gill was named Goalie of the Year.
Pirates head coach Kara Pavlovic was chosen Coach of the Year, while Elise Thiesen and Claire Santos earned All-NYL First Team honors.
Reedley High Pirates boys water polo players Ethan Milton and Jamian Villareal were selected to the All-NYL First Team.

Reedley High will com- pete in the Yosemite Varsity Tournament Thursday Jan. 4, to Saturday, Jan. 6. They then will play Dinuba High School on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Reedley High School.
“This is my first year with the program and every- thing we are doing is new,” Wilkinson said. “There is an adjustment period for that. We are gearing up for our league and it is good to get a nice win at home but we have a lot of work to do.”

Immanuel girls basketball earns wins over Liberty High and Parlier High

“We are challenging them to stay focused on our team goals and continue playing tough defense,” Todd said. “Cohesiveness as a team is something we see improv- ing daily so we are going into the tournament with inten- tions to reinforce this team strength. Our ultimate goals are definitely to win the whole tournament and continue the winning streak.”
IHS Boys basketball
The Immanuel High boys basketball team competed in the 2017 Clovis Elks Christ- mas Classic Dec. 27 to Satur- day, Dec. 30, at Clovis High School in Clovis.
The Eagles played El Capi- tan High School on Dec. 27 in the first round of the tourna- ment. No score was avaiable at presstime.
They then will play Johan- sen High School from Modesto on Thursday, Dec. 28, at Clovis High School's South Gym.

The Immanuel High Ea- gles girls basketball team improved to 6-2 overall after wins over Liberty High School and Parlier High School.
The Eagles defeated Lib- erty High from Madera High 52-38 on Dec. 18 in Madera.
Aaliyah Seuell led Imman- uel with 28 points, while Krys- tale Gutierrez had 14 points.
Hannah Baptista scored

Immanuel then defeated
Parlier High on Dec. 19 at Parlier High.
Seuell had 20 points and Gutierrez had 10. Baptista had eight points and Amanda Scheidt had six.
“I thought we played OK against Liberty, especially with only six players. But, I see great, championship po- tential in this team,” said Phil- lip Todd, Immanuel High head coach. “The Parlier game was a response to that challenge, and the girls rose to the oc- casion. There were many glimpses of beautiful basket- ball in that game.”
Coach Todd said he was
impressed with the team's play against Parlier, especial- ly that of backcourt players Seuell and Gutierrez.
“In the Liberty game, Aa- liyah shot lights out. Krystale I think is one of the most com- plete players in the Valley,” Todd said. “Krystale has been consistent all season. I believe them to be the best back court tandem in the Valley,” Todd said. “This game was a total team effort and it was beauti- ful to watch such fun basket- ball being played.”
Immanuel competed in the Old Town Clovis Kiwanis New Years Eve Classic.
The Eagles played Sanger High School on Dec. 27 in the first round of the tournament.
They will play Firebaugh High on Thursday, Dec. 28, before playing North Bakers- field on Friday, Dec. 29. The final day of the tournament is Saturday, Dec. 30.
All the games will be played at Buchanan High School on Clovis.
The Eagles then will host the Fifth Annual Immanuel Invitational Wednesday, Jan. 3 to Saturday, Jan. 6.
