camp experience at Sequoia Lake
By Jon Earnest
Mid Valley Times
In this time of COVID-19, the Reedley YMCA board is giving two local families the opportuni- ty to experience summer camp.
Later this month, the families will travel to the YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake facility off High- way 180 in the Sierra Nevada as part of the organization's active Family camp program. YMCA's normal summer camp experi- ence for about 1,000 children was closed off because of the virus and its restrictions, but more than 100 families are get- ting the opportunity to take brief "mental health break" and rejuve- nate through the Y camp's family camp program.
The camp's summer season runs through Aug. 7, and the se- lect families will get the chance to enjoy the camp while practic- ing safe physical distancing mea- sures.
Lee Ky with the YMCA board said that one family from Reed- ley attending camp is John An- des, his son E.J. and daughter

Verna Lee Murray was born on April 5, 1939 to Jean and Vernon Nehf in Dinuba, California. Her parents were farmers and she grew up with her brothers and a large extended family.Verna Lee was a pretty and vivacious young woman with a generous spirit. She loved to dance and worked with her mother to sew special out ts for each high school dance. After graduating from Dinuba High School in 1956, she married fellow classmate,Troy Murray, and began their family and life together.
Troy and Verna moved to the Central Coast in 1958. While raising their rst child, Patrick, she worked as a bank teller. After Kevin, Terrie, and Shannen she managed to juggle being an incredible mother with being an outstanding business partner with her husband, Troy. Together they built Murray Fencing, Murray Construction, and Schaefer Valve Service, Inc. Later she returned to banking as a teller and worked 14 years at Mid-State Bank which is now known as Mechanics Bank. She was a customer favorite; many times, bank clients would wait in line to have her personally assist them with their banking business. She was always patient and had a great sense of humor.
Verna was an avid traveler and explored different countries and cultures including Europe, Ecuador, Asia, Mexico, and US National Parks. She was also very involved with her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed friendship and philanthropy projects with her “sisters” for over 50 years and frequently spoke of the joy she felt when gathered with her chapter.
Verna was pre-deceased by her husband,Troy, in 2009. She is survived by her children Patrick (Deanna), Kevin (Rosalind),Terrie (Johan) and Shannen; brother, Tom Nehf; grandchildren Caitlin, Benjamin, Ariana, Katherine, Jonas, Finn, and Lance.
Verna was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed every day and will be forever in our hearts and minds.
The family would like to thank Kathleen Murray, Dr. Howard Hayashi, and Dr. Gayle Cekada for their wonderful care, kindness, and support of our mother. Due to the Corona Virus pandemic, a service will not be held at this time. If you would like to make a donation in her memory, the family suggests one of her favorite charities, Meals on Wheels-Five Cities, P.O. Box 156, Pismo Beach, CA 93448.

Celistino Gabaldon
“To Know Him, is to Love Him.”
Tino beloved father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law; uncle, cousin, friend;
Tino worked in the cut up plant for thirty years at Sequoia Forest Industries in Dinuba (formerly Wicks);
He worked out the rest of his days at O’neill Vintners & Distillers in Reedley for the past eight plus years;
He was very proud of his Spanish and Native American heritage and could live on Chile Verde, Chile Colorado, papas and beans; he made the most amazing chile every Sunday to last for the whole week. “Flavor you can’t buy in a can,” he would say.
In the late sixties, he started a band with some good friends called ‘The Mighty Enchantments.’
He came up with that name because he was from Grants, NM, the “Land of Enchantment;”
They were like brothers and remained close throughout their lives.
His love of music and God led him to play in the choir at St. Anthony’s church with his close friend and relative Dean Rodriguez.
He is succeeded by his three children: Marcella Camino, Tony Gabaldon, and Monica Quintela, daughter-in-law: Rhonda Gabaldon, and nine grandchildren: Dakota Rae, Elijah, Sierra-Rose, Summer Joy, Jayden Cheyenne, Sienna Ray, Gannon, Jacob, and Little Joe.
Through his loving-kindness, teachings of honor and respect, and generosity, his legacy will forever live throughout the lives of the many people whose hearts he touched.
We love you dad and miss you so much every single day.
Funeral services will be on Friday, July 24, 2020 at St. La Salle School in Reedley, CA. at 9:30 a.m.
