Reedley child, 2, drowns in family's pool July 15

A number of police and fire personnel responded to the areas of F and 13th streets near downtown Reedley after a toddler, now identified as 2-year-old Alan Herrejon of Reedley, died from drowning in his family’s swimming pool on the evening of July 15.

The call came in just after 7 p.m. and prompted a large response from emergency per- sonnel.
When first responders ar- rived, they found the child un- responsive and quickly began life-saving measures. They were unsuccessful in reviving the boy.
Preliminary reports indi- cated that family might have
been inside the home when the child made his way outside and into the backyard swimming pool. It is not known how long the child had been in the wa- ter before he was found or who found him.

• A suspicious subject was reported in the 1400 block of South Alta Av- enue at 9:59 p.m.
• An unwanted person was reported in the 600 block of North Lyndsay at 10:13 p.m.
• A male subject was ar- rested in the 2700 block of Jenni Avenue after officers responded to the area for a report of a domestic disturbance between a male and fe- male.
• A male subject re- ported he had been shot in the leg earlier in the area of Faller and Anna- dale avenues. Detectives found that had received a minor injury but had not been shot. Officers say the man was also ex- tremely intoxicated and they found no evidence of a shooting.
• A social worker from Valley Children’s Hospi- tal reported a possible sexual assault of a child that had occurred in Sanger. The investiga- tion is ongoing.

in a diaper was located wandering in the 1900 block of Heidi Avenue. Officers took custody of the child and canvassed the neighborhood for the child’s parents. The parents were later lo- cated in the 1900 block of Catherine Avenue.
• A male subject was turned over to EMS and transported to a hospital after he was observed him talking to himself and presenting a danger to himself in the area of North and Newmark avenues. A search of the subject revealed a golf ball size amount of crystallized substance wrapped in a plastic bag in his possession.
• A female subject was arrested in the area of Geary and Acacia av- enues after she was ob- served starting grass fires along the railroad tracks in the area of Church and Academy. She was transported and booked in to the Fresno County Jail for felony arson.
• A white Honda re- portedly crashed into the side of the T-Mobile building, causing moder- ate damage. The driver complained of head pain and had a laceration to her forehead. Upon further investigation, officers learned that a Nissan Altima had rear
ended the Honda and caused it to crash into the business.
• A traffic collision was reported in the 100 block of Academy Avenue. A vehicle traveling north- bound on Academy Av- enue reportedly lost control and veered into an open field where it flipped over at least three times. The driver was able to crawl out of the vehicle and was transported to the hos- pital for treatment.
Wednesday, July 15
There were 108 calls for service and 14 traffic citations were issued.
• Officers responded to the 2500 block of 5th Street for a report of a possible mentally un- stable person. Upon ar- rival, officers contacted an elderly woman who was reportedly ‘hallu- cinating and extremely delusional’. She report- edly became combative when told she was being taken to the hospital but was restrained and tak- en in for a mental health evaluation.
• A report regarding a welfare check of chil- dren was made in the 500 block K Street. The incident was docu- mented and forwarded to Child Protective Ser- vices.
Thursday, July 16

• A non-injury traffic collision was reported in the area of Jensen Av- enue and O Street.
• A verbal disturbance was reported in the 600 block of I Street.
Friday, July 17
There were 89 calls for service and 4 traffic citations were issued.
• An injury traffic colli- sion was reported in the area of North and Acad- emy avenues.
• A subject was arrested in the 1700 block of 7th Street for obstructing, delaying or resisting a police officer.
• A male subject was ar- rested for a restraining order violation in the 2100 block of Mary Av- enue.
• After being pulled over in a traffic stop in the 1200 block of J Street, a male subject falsely identified himself. The man was arrested for providing a false iden-
tity after he was cor- rectly identified. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail.
• A 2004 BMW 530i was reported stolen in the 400 block of Tait Av- enue.
• A man was arrested for a domestic violence war- rant out of Fresno after he was stopped in the area of N and 9th Street. He was later booked into the Fresno County Jail.

Upon arrival, officers say one male subject pushed an offi- cer down, causing inju- ry to the officer’s head. A female subject report- edly grabbed an officer by the back and neck and tried to pull him away from his attempt to arrest the male who had pushed the officer. The three subjects were taken into custody for various misdemeanor and felony charges and were booked into the Fresno County Jail. The officer was treated at a local hospital and re- leased.
