The Kings River was reduced to a divided channel of small streams as it slowly flowed past Cricket Hollow Park in Reedley on the Sept. 6 Labor Day holiday. The summer season officially came to a close during the holiday weekend, as the park and nearby Reedley Beach north of the Olson Avenue bridge had their final weekend of paying visitors. Water activities were virtually non-existent because of three-plus years of below average rainfall and snowpack.
