The Immanuel High Eagles erupted in the third quarter, then weathered a late push from the visiting Liberty-Madera Ranchos Hawks to hang on for a 46- 43 girls basketball victory on Dec. 6.
It was the defending Central Section Division 3 champion Eagles’ first vic- tory of 2018-19 after a pair of lopsided losses to large school opposition. Immanuel had a road game at Washing- ton Union on Dec. 10 before hosting Kingsburg on Dec. 11. Results were unavailable at press time.
Immanuel trailed the visiting Hawks 27-21 at halftime, but surged ahead with a 17-4 run in the quar- ter. Seven different Eagles scored in the period, led by Amanda Scheidt with four points while Brooke Hatch and Laura Schletewitz scored three each. Scheidt led the hosts with 14 points while Schletewitz added 11 points.

Tiger men take third place at Foothill

The Reedley CollegeT- iger men’s basketball team went 2-2 last week, leaving Head Coach T.J. Jennings’ Tigers with a season re- cord of 5-3 going into this weekend’s San Joaquin Delta College tournament in Stockton.
With a victory over the Cabrillo College Seahawks at 4 p.m. on Friday.the Ti- gers can get a rematch with the Merritt College Thun- derbirds, who defeated Reedley 81-73 in Oakland on Dec. 4 in a makeup of a contest postponed due to poor air quality.
Reedley came back to win two games over the weekend at the Foothill College Tournament in Los Altos Hills. The Tigers opened the tournament on Friday with an 87-82 win over Butte College before dropping an 87-52 decision to the top ranked team in Southern California, Ful- lerton College. Reedley re- bounded on Sunday after- noon to take third place in the tournament with an 82- 72 win over Feather River College.
In the loss to Merritt, Reedley got off to a slow start as they fell behind 37- 23 at halftime. Uriah Carter led a second half comeback and finished with a game high of 26 points before fouling out of the contest.
The Tigers finished the Merritt contest with four players in double figures. Ruben Parks, who came into the game as one of the top scorers in the state, was held to 13 points. Parks made on;y 2 of 12 shots from the floor but was 8 of 9 from the foul line. Kha- lid Wilkins followed with 11 points while Cole Taber netted a season high of 10 points. James Harrah con- tributed four blocked shots.
In the win over Butte, Wilkins led Reedley with 24 points. Parks followed with 21 points while Carter
first-half points, but was lim- ited to a single 3-point basket and free throw the rest of the way to finish with a game- high 20. LeeAsia Whetsel added 10 points.

Head Coach Matt Wilkin- son’s squad will face the Ex- eter Monarchs at 5 p.m. in a White Pool game of the tournament at Dinuba HIgh School. Reedley will face Liberty-Madera at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20 before a 6:30 p.m. contest on Friday, Dec.21 against the Strathmore High School Spartans.

Reedley went 0-3 at Hoover, falling to Sierra 46-33, Exeter 48-41 and to Sunnyside 48-41.

Reedley then prevailed Dec. 6 in a hard-fought home match against rival Sanger, prevailing 1-0 on a goal in the 60th minute by junior Phillip Rico. The Pirates' defense posted two straight shutouts after a 3-1 win over Delano at the Young Classic.
Reedley plays at Kingsburg in a 6 p.m. non-league match on Thursday, Dec. 13 before returning home to take on Bullard in a 5 p.m. start Tuesday, Dec. 18.
Tulare Western tops Pirates
Reedley High's girls soccer team rebounded strong from an opening day loss to reach the finals of the Peggy Renberg Classic at Fresno's Hoover High School. There, the Pirates dropped a 3-1 decision to Tulare Western.

Signups are being ac- cepted for youth basket- ball leagues by Reedley High School and Immanuel Schools that will be held starting in January.
The annual Reedley Small Ball Basketball Camps hosted by the RHS boys bas- ketball teams, takes place on four consecutive Saturdays beginning Jan. 12. Other ses- sions are Jan.19, 26 and Feb. 2, with the latter date being the program's third annual pancake breakfast.
The weekly camp sched- ule has players from transi- tion kindergarten to second grade participating from 8:30 to 10 a.m.; third- through fifth-graders go from 10 to 11:30 a.m. while sixth- through eighth-graders par- ticipate from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cams will be in the

Immanuel Eagles Bas-
ketball will host the 2019 Boys and Girls Soaring Eagle Hoopsters Camp. The camp runs on consecutive Satur- days: Jan. 12, 19 and 26 and Feb. 2. There are two camps – for kindergarten students through fourth grade from 9 to 10:15 a.m. in both north and south gyms and fifth- through eighth-grade from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
