opened his restaurant," he said. "That was 1963 it has been open ever since."
Now, Martin and Dawn said it is their goal to keep the tradition going, as well as bringing in new traditions not typically seen in Italian res- taurants.
"We began serving the New York steak because the Reedley community had a steak house but then it closed down," said Dawn."People would say they didn't want to leave the community, howev- er this is what our heart was saying we wanted to have."
Martin also likes cooking up some meals he designed himself.
"The grille chicken plate," he said. "It's light, a breast of chicken that is actually grilled, it doesn't come out of the freezer with the grill marks. The sauce is a very light sauce, fresh garlic, rose- mary, olives, and sun dried tomatoes with extra virgin olive oil."

The couple is celebrat- ing the 55 year milestone on Saturday, December 15. They will be having some culinary students helping serve dur- ing the event. It begins at 5 p.m. and goes until 8:30 p.m, and the couple hopes commu- nity members will come and share in their celebration.
"I encourage people to take advantage of the open kitchen when they visit us," he said.
"And yes visit with your husband, wife, but take a look at what we're doing in there, and yea sometimes we might mess up, but its a part of life. There are mess ups but we make sure that your experi- ence is enjoyable because when you visit us, its not just eating, its an experience.
