The Reedley Police Department continued to increase its law en- forcement team on Ju- ly 17, when Eddie Luna was sworn in as an of- ficer in the department.
Luna comes to Reed- ley after previous ser- vice as an officer with the Mendota Police De- partment. Before that, he worked for the Hu- ron Police Department. Luna served with the Army National Guard for eight years (2007- 2015) as a Specialist (E-4) and received an honorable discharge.
"He is pledging to defend this community, this state and this coun- try from all enemies, foreign and domestic," Reedley Police Chief Joe Garza said right

Luna received praise from the chiefs at both his previous stints in Mendota and Huron. A fellow Mendota officer said that he was sad to see Luna go, but "my parents live in Reedley, so I'm happy he'll be there for them."
Also speaking at the swearing-in were City Manager Nicole Zieba and police Chaplain Sil- via Rios, who presented Luna with a copy of the Bible.
Garza said after the ceremony that the de- partment is continuing its recent trend of add- ing officers to reach full staffing.

Dinuba Police and Fire personnel responded to the early morning accident on July 20 that claimed the life of former Ray Millard, Dinuba city mayor. Millard died from injuries suffered when he was struck while operating his motorized wheelchair.
