Reedley's Drama Club welcomes New Year
  The View From Here
Working for a TV sta- tion is not the same as working for a newspa- per.
I learned that a long time ago.
IwasatmyTVjobon the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 8. trying to figuring out what story I would be covering that day.
We have a weekend as- signment editor her name is Kellie Helton.
Kellie’s job is to listen to the police scanner and send us to calls that might be newsworthy.
All was quiet until she announced, “Double fatal on Auberry Road, motor- cycle riders collided with two cars.”
I was quickly assigned to cover the accident.
Sometimes scanner traffic can differ from what’s really going on. My camera person for the day (Orlando) and myself took the drive up to Auberry Road to see what was go- ing on.
We came across a road closure and were flagged by CHP to pass through. As we approached the scene I could see two bright yellow blankets in the road. Not a good sign.
We later learned that two experienced riders were coming back from Jackson’s Roadhouse on Auberry Road. The duo at- tempted to pass two cars and failed to see an on- coming vehicle. Both were killed instantly upon im- pact.
They were later identi- fied as Paul King, 54 and Forrest King, 25. Father and son.
Friends described them as humble, nice guys who just wanted to do good in the world.
We as motorists need to be careful and be cognizant of motorcycle riders.
Now that warmer months are ahead, there will be more of them on the road.

The Reedley Drama Club celebrated their annual Christmas Luncheon in De- cember.
The club, which has more than 20 members, hosted sev- eral events prior to the pan- demic.
In February 2019, the club hosted author and Oscar-win- ning screenwriter Pamela Wallace. One month later, the club welcomed Jon Kooba- tion, the former executive chef and proprietor of Jon’s Bear Club.
The most recent Decem- ber luncheon will be one of the first meetings back since COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, and the ladies said they are happy to be back.

This photo of Reedley's very own physical therapy providers from Compass Physical Therapy in downtown was sent in by Shannon LaRose. LaRose said they recently hired their new- est female doctor named Yanelli Guerrero. "She is originally from Reedley," said LaRose. "Dr. G graduated this past year from the DPT program at Fresno State, we are so excited to have her!" Have a photo you'd like featured? Email juanita@ midvalleypublishing.com.

Residents in the town of London were excited to have their annual parade back on the morning of Dec. 16 following the COVID-19 pandemic. London was just one of the cities in the Fresno Coun- ty area that welcomed in person parades back for the holidays. Reedley, Sanger, and Orosi also held in person parades.
