chief of police. “The district met with officers and pointed out a large area of spray painted graf- fiti on the nearly 90 foot section of the wall with the words “NO 2 MASKS” written on two differ- ent locations on the mural.”
Garza said the vandalism is considered a felony vadalism due to the cost of damages.
“The loss of damages stands at $10,000,” said Garza. “This bumps up the crime to a felony charge.”
Garza also added that if con-
victed, the person responsible can face up to one year in jail.
“If you know something, say something,” he added.
Renee Delport, spokesper- son for KCUSD, said the banner was a small token of apprecia- tion given the last year, to honor the members in the community who made life a bit easier for students.
“This banner was an effort that we worked on for over five months to honor the everyday heroes in our community,” Del- port said. “Our district has near- ly 10,000 students, nearly 1500 employees and everyday it takes
a village to help our students thrive and to be successful.”
“A very sad day for our dis- trict, a very sad day for our stu- dents and our community and we look forward to someone stepping up and coming for- ward,” she continued. “We all live here and definitely deserve to honor those who live here as well.”
A cash reward of $1,500 is being offered to anyone with information leading to the ar- rest of the person responsible for the vandalism. Visit valley- crimestoppers.org or call (559) 498-STOP to leave a tip.
