Even though the Reed- ley College softball team finished the 2019 season ranked seventh in North- ern California, the team received a number nine seed in the Northern Cali- fornia Regionals.
That seeding sends head coach Kathy Kub- all's Tigers (17-4, 31-9) to Aptos on Friday, May 3, to face eighth-seeded Ca- brillo College (9-6, 24-13) at 2 p.m. The best-of-three series continues on Satur- day, May 4, at noon at Ca- brillo with a third game if needed at 2 p.m.
Reedley has split with Cabrillo this season, winning the first game of a makeup doubleheader on April 5 by a 4-2 score before dropping the nightcap, 6-5.
The series winner will probably face top-seeded College of San Mateo (14-0, 37-2 and the winners of 30 straight games) on the road the following weekend.
Reedley did receive the best seed out of the four Central Valley Con- ference teams that quali- fied for the regionals. Conference champion Col- lege of the Sequoias (19- 2, 26-13) was seeded 10th. Third place Fresno City (14-7, 22-17) received a 12 seed while fourth place Porterville (12-9,24-15) was seeded 14th.
Tiger first baseman Sandra Vallejo was named the co-conference player of the year and to the all- CVC first team.
Pitcher Emily Grim- beby and second baseman Aunika Castellanos were first team all-CVC selec- tions while catcher Saman- tha Lizaola, third baseman Amanda Beltran and out- fielders Karlie Fien and Bobbie Falcon were named to the second team.

Staff Reports
The Immanuel High Eagles were three outs away from seizing control of the Central Sequoia League base- ball race on April 26, but Selma High rallied for two runs in the seventh to pull out a 2-1 victory at The Yard.
The late comeback allowed the Bears (20-4, 9-2) to move a half-game in front of the Eagles (20-6, 8-2), who played at Hanford West on April 30 and then close the regular season at home with a 7 p.m. game Thursday, May 2, against Central Valley Chris- tian. Wins would give Immanuel a share of the league title, although Selma swept the season series.
The Eagles grabbed a 1-0 lead in the sixth on Matt Tiger's RBI single, and it appeared that they would clinch at least a tie for the title with the win. But Selma rallied against IHS pitchers Roman Rosales and Trace Pires in the seventh.

A relay throw bounced free from Immanuel High infielder Trevin Paulson as Selma High's Leo Arreguin slid safely into second base on April 26. The Bears rallied for two runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Eagles, 2-1.

and the opportunity to play in state for a Division 1 school.
Jefferies was a contrib- uting member of the Eagles' 2016 squad which reached the California Division 5 state fi- nals, then a premier player for IHS the past two seasons. Her dominating play at the net helped Immanuel surge to the section finals before a five-set loss to Chowchilla. She also has been a Central Sequoia League Defensive
Player of the Year.
Jefferies was joined at the
table by her parents, Shannon and Edmund Jefferies, and younger brother Nate. Also present was Franc Chavez of the Dinuba-based Dinamite Volleyball Club, where Jef- feries played for an Under-18 travel team.
Jefferies plans to major in business at Fullerton with hopes of becoming an entre- preneur.

Danielle Jefferies and her family "waited on the Lord," and it paid off as the Immanuel High School vol- leyball standout has signed a national letter of intent to play for Division 1 school Cal State Fullerton.
Jefferies, a four-year var- sity player and two-time all- Central Sequoia League first team member who led the Eagles to the Central Section Division 4 finals last fall, offi- cially put pen to paper during an April 25 ceremony in the high school gym.
"I was hoping to knowing where I was going before I was a senior," she said dur- ing the ceremony. "But God gave me the opportunity and opened the door for me."
Jefferies had received an early offer from Stoney Brook University in New York, and later drew inter- est from Howard University in Washington D.C. But there
were reservations about the distance from home.
Then came the interest from CS Fullerton and coach Ashley Preston. The result was a full scholarship offer
