Fresno man accused of carjacking mother north of Sanger
Staff, Contributed Report
Law enforcement arrested a 25-year-old Fresno man af- ter he allegedly assaulted his mother and carjacked her car at Winton Park north of Sanger on July 20.
Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sher- iff’s Office arrested Francisco Gil after the incident. He has been booked into the Fresno
County Jail on a felony charge of carjacking. His bail is set at $75,000.
According to the sheriff's office, Gil's mother used her car to pick up her son, who is homeless and suffers from mental health issues. His mother wanted to feed him and get him cleaned up. She chose to drive him out of the city of Fresno to Winton Park, located near North Piedra and
Elwood roads north of High- way 180.
Once the two arrived at the park, Gil punched his mother several times in the head, took her car keys and got out of the vehicle. The scared woman could not get a cell phone sig- nal to call 911 for help, so she stayed seated in the car. Gil later got back into the car and made some disrespectful com- ments to his mom and then
drove her back to her house and let her out. Gil then drove off in her 2014 Chevy Malibu, which he did not have permis- sion to take. She then contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Of- fice and filed a criminal report.
The following day, detec- tives were searching areas Gil is known to frequent and they found him in the Chevy Mali- bu at Victoria Park located at West Clinton and North Braw-
ley Avenues in Fresno. Detec- tives arrested him and later returned the car to his mother.
Anyone with additional in- formation on Francisco Gil can contact the Sheriff’s Of- fice at (559) 600-3111. You may also contact Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867 or valley- crimestoppers.org. You will re- main anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. You may reference case #20-7956.
