Sept. 27 Taste of the Town 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Come taste all that Reed- ley has to offer! Thirty plus vendors invite you to taste their delicious food, wine, and desserts. Event will be held on 11th and G Streets, Tickets can be purchased online or at local merchants for $30, or $35 on the day of event. Palm Village Retirement Community will host a pre- sentation on Oct. 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the Administration
Building entitled, “Cruising Ukraine, Searching for An- cestor Information". Speak- ers are Alan Peters, the founder of the Fresno Men- nonite Genealogy database and Phil Kliewer, who were present on the Cruise.
The Cruise from Odessa to Kiev, with 191 passen- gers made many stops at Villages and Cities, travel- ing by bus to view points of specific interest to those on the Cruise. Photos of the lo- cations as well as ancestral information will be included in the presentation and will be of interest to those who are considering a trip to the Ukraine or those who just might enjoy a virtual tour of the country.
Attendees interested in submitting ancestral in- formation to the Geneol- ogy database will be able to discuss the process with Peters. The presentation is free to the public.
Oct. 12. The Reedley Fi- esta Diaper Derby is right around the corner! The event will take place at Si- erra View Homes located at 1155 East Springfield Ave. Registration starts at 9:45 a.m. with races starting at 10 a.m. Two age categories are available. Oct. 20. Karen Weibe plans to ride her bike 65 miles to raise money for the Community Youth Min- istries' RiverKids program. Wiebe began riding to sup- port CYM when she turned 50. Each year she has been adding one mile, this year she will ride 65 miles in honor of her 65th birthday. Karen said she enjoys riding her bike and teaching young children that Jesus Christ loves them.
This ride is a way to support both of the things she loves to do. Karen and CYM are thankful for the many people who continue to support the fundraiser each year. The event raises about $6,000 each year.
Oct.27from3p.m.to6 p.m. Palm United Methodist Church of Dinuba will hold its annual Oriental Take- Out Dinner. The church is located at 438 West Tulare Street, on the corner of "P" Street, in Dinuba. Menu will include grilled teriyaki chicken, cabbage and ramen salad, chow mein, steamed rice, and cookies. Tickets cost $12 and can be pur- chased from church mem- bers or at the door. Boutique items will also be available for purchase. Proceeds will go to support various mis- sion projects.
