Some 2017 highlights in Parlier

On April 7, Parlier High School's Navy Junior ROTC held an opening ceremony to dedicate a new drill pad located on the side of the NJROTC building at the high school. It is used by the color guard and drill team for practices. Cadets also use it to practice dodgeball, a competitive sport that they participate in with NJROTC programs around the area.

On March 18, a group of 90 vol- unteers came together for the "Parlier Community Clean Up" project. Volunteers picked up trash, pulled weeds and painted over a tagged wall on the side of the Quail Run apartments near S. Ben Benavidez Elementary School. Volunteers included chil- dren and youth as well as school and community leaders.

Students with the Parlier High School NJROTC program put up a new American flag at the city's Veterans Park on Sept. 11. The city held a flag burning ceremony to retire a previous worn out U.S. flag at the Parlier Veterans Memorial in Veterans Park. Pictured are the PHS NJROTC cadets putting up a new flag. There are many ways to retire a flag; holding a flag burning ceremony is one of them.
