case incident again inched its way up in Fresno County ru- ral cities. In Reedley, that number increased slightly in the southwest, southwest and northeast portions of the city as well as the surrounding regions. The highest in- cident rate was west of town in the Lac Jac re- gion, but that number actually decreased to 122 per 10,000 in popu- lation.
Sanger, on the other hand, showed slight in- creases in the 30-day incidence rate for the
week. The highest rate of infection was in south- east Sanger with 138 per 10,000 as of Nov. 8.
In Tulare County, ac- tive cases dropped by just more than 300 for the week while hospital- izations declined by 13. An additional 20 people reportedly died from COVID-related symp- toms, but the recovery rate climbed back to 95.4 percent as of the Nov. 9 report.
Vaccination rates were expected to begin increasing at a larger level, after the Food and Drug Administration early last week gave ap- proval for emergence
use of COVID-19 vac- cine to children ages 5 to 11 years. Valley Chil- dren's Hospital in Made- ra County began vac- cine clinics for children on Nov. 4, offering the newly approved Pfizer- BioNTech vaccine spe- cially made for the 5-11 age group.
Tulare County did not release new vaccine numbers for the week, but the state website showed that 472,397 doses of the vaccine had been administered as of Nov. 8. In Fresno County, 69.2 percent of resident 12 years and older had received at least one dose as of Nov. 8.
