Dinuba High School students await their turn to give blood during a blood drive held for 9-year old Camila Her- rera on Dec. 2 at the high school.
Arax visits Dinuba
About 100 people from around the Central Valley gath- ered in Dinuba to hear renowned Valley author Mark Arax’s presentation about his nonfiction book, “Dreamt Land: Chasing Water and Dust Across California.” The event was held on Nov. 16 at the Living Word Fellowship Church auditorium. There was a Q&A session and books for purchase after the event. The two-hour program was sponsored by the Alta District Historical Society and the Dinuba Public Library.

BLOOD DRIVE Continued from page A1
“We had someone come from Madera after seeing us in the news,” said Ngai.
Junior Natalie Gonza- lez said she has donated blood three times before and strongly encouraged her classmates to donate as well.
“I think it’s a good way to give back to the community,” Gonzalez said. “It’s something that can be really impactful to others. This is some- thing we can all do.”
Camila’s older sister, Brenda Marquez, was on hand to see the outpour- ing of community sup- port.
“We’re very apprecia- tive for everything,” she said. “It shows that people who don’t even know you, actually care.”
Dinuba High junior Natalie Gonzalez smiled as she was donating blood at the Dec. 2 blood drive. The blood drive is in support of Camila Herrera, a student at Lincoln Elementary School in Dinuba who was diagnosed with leukemia in October.
Gonzalez said she has donated blood three times before and strongly encouraged her classmates to donate as well.
“I think it’s a good way to give back to the community,” she said. “It’s something that can be really impact- ful to others. This is something we can all do.”
