MVT Staff Report
The Reedley City Council unan- imously approved the purchase of a new fire engine “pumper” for the Reedley Fire Department on the evening of Sept. 28.
The fire engine described by the department as a Rosenbauer model “fire pumper” will be cus- tomized to fit the needs of the city and is scheduled to arrive some- time in the next year.
“Just to give you a bit of back- ground, discussions for replacing fire engines have been going on for a lot of years,” said Jerry Isaak, Reedley fire chief. “We identified the current fire pumper to be taken out of service on the 2019 schedule and that was back in 2014.”
The new engine will cost more than $746,000 and will be pur- chased through funding from the Fire Development Impact Fee Ac- count, the Public Safety Tax and Measure B funding.

The smoke that was visible throughout the weekend and most days since late September has been wafting from the KNP fire in Sequoia and Kings Canyon Nation- al Parks. Early this week, the fire remained barely above 10 percent containment and had burned more than 76,000 acres.
The air quality was in the unhealthy for sensitive groups range when Dinuba High hosted Central Valley Christian for its football homecoming game on Oct. 1. There were no instances

The extended weather fore-
cast showed no real threats of heavy smoke, but conditions are subject to change.
