TCSO deputies break up rooster fight
Dozens of vehicles' tires slashed in Dinuba
Fighting birds found dead in Orosi
MVT Staff Report
A call to the Tulare Coun- ty Sheriff’s Office led to the discovery of dozens of dead fighting roosters in the Orosi area, say sheriff’s deputies.
Just before 11 a.m. on April 26, deputies respond- ed to the 43700 block of Road 136 in Orosi for a re- port of a possible rooster fight. When they arrived, deputies say several people ran away as officer seem- ingly interrupted a live rooster fight in the middle of an orange orchard.
There in the orchard, deputies located a make- shift portable arena, 11 caged roosters and 30 dead
roosters. They also found several ‘gaffs’, which are knives tied to rooster legs, and other paraphernalia used in rooster fights.
Tulare County Animal Control responded to the scene and took possession of the roosters. Deputies later found a 65-year-old man hiding in a neighboring orchard who was arrested for being involved in the il- legal rooster fight.
Anyone with information about this investigation is urged to contact the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-808-0488 or anony- mously at tcso@tipnow.com or by text or voicemail at (559) 725-4194.
