MVT Staff Report
The banquet for this year's induction cere- mony into Sanger High's Hall of Fame, originally scheduled for May 2, has been postponed until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To honor them, Mid Valley Times will be running profiles of this year's in- ductees over the coming weeks.
Staci Mosher
Another three sport standout to join this year’s class is Staci Mosher, who is described by coaches as the “heart and soul” of teams on which she played. Staci played var- sity volleyball for 3 years, varsity basketball for 2
years, and
varsity soft-
ball for 4
years. She
was a team
captain in all
three sports, Staci Mosher and was vot-
ed to All League teams in all three sports, in addition to being named Sanger High co-Female Athlete of the Year in 1986. She later attended COS in Visalia where she starred on a State Championship softball team. She has continued to contribute as Head Softball Coach at West Hills College for over 20 seasons.

Orange Cove High sophomore Mary Jo Camaquin helped pitch and hit Or- ange Cove High School to the champion- ship of the first Orosi Cardinals/Orange Cove Titans Bash softball tournament before the spring season was canceled by COVID-19. Camaquin pitched a three- hitter in the championship game on her way to earning all-tournament recogni- tion.
“Mary Jo instills great leadership and motivation to her teammates,” Ti- tans coach Victor Contreras said of the pitcher-outfielder. “Feared by teams as a batter, Mary Jo was intentionally walked six times.”
Camaquin batted .588 with an on- base percentage of .676 as OCHS went 6-8-1 during the shortened season. She collected 27 hits, belted one home run while collecting 14 walks and 23 stolen bases.

Although there won’t be a City-County All-Star Football game in 2020, seven players from Mid Valley Times cities were still honored by being selected to the 45-member County All- Stars squad.
Leading the way were three players from Sanger High School — receiver/defensive back Dolce Calandra and offensive linemen Jesus Ferreira and Ja- son Lopez. The trio all were selected to County Metro Athletic Con- ference first team and were key contributors for an Apaches squad that posted a 7-4 record in 2019.
Calandra led the team in receiving with 37 catches for 643 yards and eight touchdowns. Center Ferreira and right tackle Lopez an- chored the Apaches’ of- fensive line that paved the way for running back Kosi Agina to rush for more than 1,000 yards and 17 touch- downs.
According to Sanger High head football coach Jorge Pena, Agina was also selected to the All-Star roster but had to decline due to his Fresno State recruit status.
Pena recently ex- pressed his dissappoint- ment in hearing of the game's cancellation.
"I feel terrible for the kids who won't get hon- ored one last time under the Friday night lights, not to mention the City/ County game organizers who have committed so much of their time and effort to making the game happen year after year," said Pena.
"It's a dream for
these kids and a special night," he added. "It's always been one of my favorite memories as a high school player."
Reedley High (run- ning back Danny Cor- tez) and Immanuel High (running back Matt Tiger) each had one se- lection to the County squad. Cortez rushed for 704 yards and 10 touch- downs, earning first team all-North Yosem- ite League recognition as the Pirates posted a 6-5 record and qualified for the Central Section Division 5 playoffs.
Tiger, meanwhile, was the top offensive weapon for an Eagles squad that went 9-3 and reached the section Di- vision 5 quarterfinals. Switching position from quarterback to run- ning back, the 5-foot-8, 180-pounder rushed for 1,859 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Also named to the County All-Stars were Orange Cove High run- ning back Mario Reyno- so and Parlier High wide receiver Ivan Sanchez. Other area selections were linebacker Jacob DeLeon from Fowler High, offensive lineman Michael Renovato from Selma High and Kings- burg High players Josh Jackson (DE) and Kyle Peterson (OT).
The 2020 City-Coun- ty game, the 66th in a longtime series, was scheduled to be played on Friday, June 19, at La- monica Stadium in Clo- vis. Because of the CO- VID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of prep sports, this year’s game was recently canceled.
Both the County and City rosters can be found online at fccall- stars.com.
