Mary Elizabeth (Chase) Donaldson
March 2, 1926 - October 26, 2019
Mary Elizabeth (Chase) Donald- son was born March 2, 1926, and died October 26, 2019 at the age of 93. Born to Murrey Chapman Chase and Laura Mary
Chase, Mary was the 4th of ve children and was the last surviv-
ing sibling of the Chase children. Her siblings, Father Maurice G. Chase,
Shirley Chase, Majel Prindiville, and Barbara Boyd all preceded her in death.
Mary met and married Theodore Ralph Donaldson in Dinuba. Ted was a logger and truck driver and together they had seven children. Mary raised her seven children as a single parent. Theodore Ralph the 2nd who preceded Mary in death in 2010 at the age of 60, and her surviving children are Murrey Chapman married to Alona, Lo- retto Angela, David Patrick married to Nikki, Stephen Allen married to Joy, Mary Theresa, Maurice (Moe) Donaldson married to Cindy. Mary has 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mary started working for the Parlier Uni ed School District in 1963 as the con dential secretary to the superintendent for 33 years until her retirement. Her favorite past-time was playing duplicate bridge all over the world, traveling on road trips, and numerous cruises. She earned the honor of being a life master in duplicate bridge twice. Everyone seemed to want to play bridge with Mary because she was that good at the game.
Mary also enjoyed going to the mountains piling her seven kids in the station wagon and taking a picnic along. Two of her favorite places were Hume Lake and Bass Lake.
Mary moved many times in her retirement, 22 to be exact but who’s counting! Eventually she settled in Arroyo Grande near Pismo Beach for many years. While there she enjoyed the cool ocean weather, playing duplicate bridge, reading, and watching profes- sional tennis matches on T.V. Mary also enjoyed watching the tele- vised Indy 500 every year. She eventually moved to Blythe with her daughter Mary Therese who became her caregiver for the past 10 years as she developed Alzheimer/dementia and living alone was not an option anymore.
A graveside service will be held at Smith Mountain Cemetery on Friday January 31st at 11:30am. Mary will be buried alongside her father Murrey Chase, sisters Shirley Chase and Majel Prindiville with her husband Dick, and her brother Maurice Chase.
Louie Mack Long Sr. January 18, 1951 - November 16, 2019
Louie Mack Long Sr., 68, better known as “Red,” of Dinuba, CA passed away on November 16, 2019 in Little Rock, Arkansas, surrounded by his loving family.
Louie was Born in Wal- dron, Arkansas on January 18, 1951 to Clarence and Gracie Long. He was born the h of six Long children. He came just minutes before his twin brother Dewey. As twins o en do, Louie and Dewey had a connection like no other, a connection that
only twins can understand. Louie’s ery red hair earned him the nickname “Red”. When Red was 4 years old, the Long family moved to Orange Cove, CA. Red would later meet and marry the love of his life, Rosie Vasquez. Togeth- er, they raised 3 children.
Red loved the outdoors. He loved to sh and hunt with his two sons. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing and spend- ing time with his grandchildren and putting his and Rosie’s travel trailer to use. He would always o er a helping hand to someone in need without any expectation of something in return. He was o en described as, “a man of few words” but, he could tell a great story. When he was telling a really good story, he would start to laugh right before the punch line. His face would light up and tears would ll his eyes from laughing so hard. It was a contagious laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gracie Long; his two brothers, Eugene and Bill Long; and his sister, Loretta McMurtry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Rosie; their 3 children, Louie Jr. and his wife Lee Jane Long; Valerie Fillmore and her husband Justin; and Christopher Long and his Fiancé Alicia Raygosa; his sister Mamie Valenzuela, his twin Brother Dewey Long Sr. and his 4 grandchildren; James, Kylie, Ryan and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.
Louie (Red) was laid to rest at Smith Mountain Cemetery on November 25th, 2019. He will be deeply missed. We know he is waiting in heaven to show us to his new favorite shing spot, show us that meadow where he saw that big
buck and tell us a new story. Until we meet again.
