BRITISH & IRISH LIONS 22
FORSYTH BARR STADIUM, DUNEDIN CROWD: 29,620
A breathless game of rugby ended with the Highlanders taking a famous victory in the dying minutes. The Lions had started the second half in ominous form with two tries in 13 minutes from Scotland wing Tommy Seymour and Captain Sam Warburton handing them a nine-point lead. The Highlanders had other ideas. At a lineout, they executed perfectly and powered over, with Liam Coltman emerging from a bundle of players; a conversion later, and the score narrowed to 20-22. Waisake Naholo was a constant threat for the hosts, and Jonathan Joseph likewise for the tourists, both touching down. In the end, it came down to a single kick. With six minutes to go, Marty Banks gave the Highlanders a narrow 23-22 lead. There was time for one more twist as the Lions won a 78th-minute penalty, but, at 57m, it was a metre too far for Elliot Daly.
