Talk of the High Street
Christmas Festival will light up Thrapston!
Live entertainment, festive food, a fun fair and a gift market will bring the magic of Christmas alive in Thrapston on Saturday 24th November as the town stages its Christmas Festival, supported by Thrapston Town Council.
Celebrating its fifth year, the annual event continues to grow in size and popularity, attracting over 2,000 visitors in 2017, and this year promises to be better than ever.
Councillor Craig Wheeler, Mayor of Thrapston, says: “I’m incredibly proud that we can stage this fantastic event for the residents of Thrapston and surrounding villages. The organising team has worked incredibly hard to make sure there is something for everyone, young and old.”
Opening the event at 2pm will be a fabulous Christmas Market in the Thrapston Plaza. The venue will be packed with
local traders selling festive goodies and handcrafted presents.
From 3.30pm, dazzling Christmas lights will illuminate the town centre as the High Street comes alive with a fun fair and a huge stage hosting live music and fun from local bands, entertainers, choirs and orchestras.
Hot roast chestnuts and delicious food from local traders can be enjoyed alongside side stall games, a kids ‘creative’ zone, face painting and a bouncy disco. Many of the High Street traders will be open, and
of course, no Christmas Festival would be

complete without a chance to meet Santa. Following feedback from Festival-goers,
the big ‘switch on’ of the Christmas Tree lights is slightly earlier this year at 5.30pm, and will be followed by Christmas carols around the tree led by Thrapston Town Band and local choirs.
Councillor Wheeler said: “I’d encourage everyone to get there early to enjoy our Christmas Market before we open our High Street for fun, food and entertainment, and of course, our big Christmas Tree lights switch on. What a wonderful way to start the festive season.”
Win! Win! Win!
Want to switch on the town’s Christmas Tree lights with the Mayor of Thrapston, Councillor Craig Wheeler, and a very special guest? Of course you do!
Children aged 12 and under can take part in this year’s Letter to Santa competition, in association with Thrapston Town Council and Jollys Toys. One lucky winner will get to switch on the Christmas Tree Lights, while runners up will win Christmas goodies from Thrapston’s favourite toy shop.
The competition opens on Saturday
13th October. Entry forms and more information can be found on the Thrapston Christmas Festival Facebook page (@ thrapstonchristmasfestival), Jollys Toys in the High Street or Thrapston Town Council.
