News from St. James Bell Tower
Some of you have missed the sound of the clock chimes. We hope to have them repaired in two to three weeks.
Coming up on the 11th November we have Remembrance Sunday. On this day as a mark of respect for all those who gave their lives
for their country we ring the bells half muffled. Normally we ring before the morning service and also before the town Remembrance service in the afternoon. This year being the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI we will ring in the evening as well.
The town council will be lighting the town beacon at 7pm and we will ring for about 15 mins. This is part of a nationwide event during which many beacons will be lit and bells all over the country will be rung.
