28 ENGINEER REGIMENT

28 Engineer Regiment has remained as busy as ever. They have deployed on multiple
exercises in the UK and abroad, maintaining its high readiness capabilities as a Counter Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (C-CBRN) unit. As part of 42 Field Squadron’s C-CBRN training, winter C-CBRN courses where conducted in Sweden. Cold weather training was completed prior to the course, which takes soldiers outside their comfort zones. On completion, C-CBRN sampling was the main effort. A vital part of training to saving lives.
Exercise IRON DIABOLO was also supported by 28 Engineer Regiment (C-CBRN), seeing over 1,000 soldiers deploy from Royal Engineer units. Testing their C-CBRN capabilities, this exercise was to improve collaboration and integration.
Alongside its Regimental activity, 28 Engineer Regiment have also participated in several sports supporting the Army Sports Trophy. Most recently, the Regimental Football Team entered the Royal Engineers 6-a-side Championships, achieving runners up in a tough competition. The Commanding Officer’s Cup has also been included in the FOE throughout the year, including a number of sport competitions both on and off barracks. A highlight of the event was the mountain bike cross country in Thetford Forrest, with 64 Sqn winning the overall competition.
