As we come into the new year, I look forward to what tasks the Unit will be challenged with and what I can do to help. We have a fantastic team of gym staff (more than I’ve seen elsewhere) who each bring something valuable to the table. With the fantastic support of the Unit, we have a constant flow of potential
PTIs, to help grow the Unit’s passion for physical training and sport. I’d like to finish this short insight to 16 Signal Regiment with a shout out to one of our PTIs who successfully passed the RAPTC Selection – someone who will no doubt be a key player within the Corps within the next few years - Cpl Greg Hardy. I look forward to seeing the greatness you achieve.

What a place to be for my first tour as a Mainstream RAPTCI. This highly deployable unit has welcomed me with open arms and unwavering patience, as I slowly settled into this new way of life. Especially after 7 years in the exercise rehabilitation world.
16th Signal Regiment has a constant deployment of troops on exercises/tours but has shown unfaltering dedication to their troop’s welfare throughout the busy and quiet times. Shown recently in its Silver Accreditation Award from the Field Army Empowerment Programme – something very few units ever achieve. I feel privileged to be apart of their journey through these trying times, to be able to impart what knowledge I have to better prepare their soldiers mentally and physically for the tasks required of them. Whether this be for Lanyard Training – where they placed an amazing 5th place, or for Op LINOTYPER, which saw multiple teams deployed across Eastern Europe. The feeling of helping individuals achieve their goals – no matter how large or small – will always be the best part of the job.
Due to the geographical location of the unit – MOD Stafford is fast becoming the HUB of sport hosting – we have had the Army Weightlifting, Sport Midlands Cross Country events, Regional Volleyball Championships, Army Squash Coaching, Walsall Football Academy, RAF Weightlifting and much more. It is a privilege to open our doors and facilities to others and the Commanding Officer, Lt Col R Foster, is always accommodating of soldiers who wish to help others. This also allows our troops to take part or have an insight into other sports they might not have otherwise seen.
