  13 AIR ASSAULT SUPPORT REGIMENT
As I approach the end of my first year with 13 AASR, I can look back on a very rewarding and enjoyable tenure. Being the RAPTCI of the largest Regiment in the British Army, within the most deployable and busiest Brigades, my role has been diverse and extremely enjoyable. We have continued to support 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team with all the logistical support and have done this alongside Regimental business and more importantly Sport and Physical Training competitions.
A period of absolute dominance across a multiple of Sports, resulting in the Regiment requiring a significantly larger trophy cabinet. We have been extremely successful in several different sporting competitions, both as a Regiment and individuals representing their respective Corps,’ Army and UKAF teams. The Regimental Boxing Team entered the Army Major Unit Championships and lost in the quarter finals to 1 YORKS in a close fought result of 5-4. The Cross-Country team won the Army X-Country Championships in Jan, and had multiple runners selected to represent the Army in their age categories. Additionally, SSgt Bowling and the Team came second individual and Unit respectively at the Commando Speed March event at Spean Bridge and won the Cyprus Challenge running competition. In Football, the team reached the Army Cup Semi Finals, the best result the Regimental Team has ever achieved.
The Regimental Alpine and Nordic Ski Teams had successes throughout the 23/24 season. 13 AASR was the combined Nordic and Alpine winner at Ski RLC and the Female Team also came first. Both male and female Nordic Teams and the Alpine Team achieved multiple successes at the Divisional and Army Championships too. The Regiment continues to achieve

winning results in a variety of volleyball, squash, basketball, British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF) and snowboarding competitions.
Continuing with the running theme, members from the Regiment were involved with the recent Inter Services Marathon Championships, which are held within the London Marathon. This is always the pièce de résistance of Army races in the sporting calendar. SSgt Bowling competing in his fourth consecutive London Marathon, crossed the finishing line in 2:29:41 and helped to ensure victory for the Army.
The RAPTCI was given the opportunity to deploy on Op TOSCA 40 in support of 4 PARA and other individuals from 16 Brigade. This was only a short deployment, ensuring the safe delivery of Acclimatisation and ensuring there was

a smooth handover to the replacement RAPTCI. This was a great opportunity to see the ongoing situation between the North and South side of Cyprus.
