The Sapper Games 2024 (SG24) is something the Regiment are gearing up towards to compete in July 24. The aim of the Sapper Games is to draw together Royal Engineer units, both Regular and Reserve, in a sporting competition. It provides a relaxed but competitive sporting event for units and individuals to compete for trophies whilst promoting ‘esprit de corps.’
This year has been a busy year for the AAPTIs, with many of them deploying on Operations, Exercises and Adventurous Training as well as delivering the Regiment’s Physical Training Programme (PTP). Germany, Norway, Kosovo and Mali are just a few of the many destinations that have been visited by the team.
Sporting representation throughout the Regiment has increased. With the British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF) Team taking part in multiple events throughout the year. The Regiment’s Cycling Team are completing the North Coast 500, this involves completing 516 miles around the north coast of Scotland! The Regiment also has several individuals competing at Army level in sports such as football, squash, swimming, water polo and skiing.
The CO’s cup, which is run station wide, with teams from the RAF, Ministry of Defence Police (MDP), Civilians and 42 Engr Regt, was won by the Regiment. This year it has had extremely good buy-in from all units and departments at RAF Wyton, with teams going head-to- head on a monthly basis over a 12-month period. The annual Turkey Trott took place in December with personnel from across the Regiment taking part in a 5km run, prizes were awarded to 5 individuals that managed to catch the Commanding Officer.

The Regiment is very unique, and one in which it is both challenging and rewarding working alongside the RAF and Babcock Instructors. The gym facility itself is excellent and allows us to deliver the Army Physical Training System (APTS) to the Regiment.
