Blandford is the home of The Royal Signals with a plethora of units on site, in all with circa 2500 Service
Personnel (SP) and Civil Servants spread across HQ Defence School of Communication, Information Systems, Blandford Garrison Support Unit, 11th (Royal School of Signals) Signal Regiment (11 SR) and multiple other units.
The remainder of the RAPTC cohort, which includes Capt (MAA) S Cowley RAPTC, SSgt (SSI) J Peters RAPTC, Sgt (SI) C Griffin RAPTC, SSgt (SSI) J Bedford RAPTC (PCRF) and Sgt (SI) C McCabe RAPTC (PCRF), have been extremely active with sport across the Garrison and the wider Headquarter South West (HQSW) Region by hosting a Regional Command UK South Cross- Country League Race, assisting with boxing officiating at multiple events and supported the HQSW Festival of Sport Football competition at Tidworth.
Sport in 11 SR maintains a high priority with all personnel. This year has seen the Regiment be triumphant in many events; being crowned Champions at Corps level in Athletics, Badminton and Rugby League. At Inter Unit level the Regiment were victorious in the Army Table Tennis Championships, Army Community 15s

and 7s Vase Cup and Plate. All this success would not have been possible without the efforts of the sport OICs and the RAPTC cohort.
Outside the sporting sphere, SSgt Peters continues to drive community engagement with the NHS Games and
Leadership days which is seen by 11 SR chain of command as an integral output due to the benefits gained from a Regiment and NHS perspective. Over the next six months SSgt Peters aims to expand these events to local schools to improve the Regiment’s wider network and show of support to the local community.
