Another year passes by at the ASPT, yet the CAV Cell pace of life fails to slow down. With much of the military team coming towards the end of their tenure, our focus is now switching towards ensuring our successors are best positioned to maintain and further develop the departmental outputs.
This demanding period has seen the progression of numerous work strands, as we all seek for continuous improvements. Although, many of our achievements have fallen outside of our primary roles. Most notably was our Training Validation WO (TVWO), WO2 (QMSI) Steve Burnell and his work in support of the Engage to Recruit Initiative, spending a six- month period immersed in the project management of the British Army sport engagement opportunities. His highlight was hosting ex-international rugby players Jim Hamilton, and Andy Goode on a 2-day insight to the British Army. ‘The Rugby Pod’ published a video via their YouTube channel receiving outstanding feedback and hopefully achieved the aim of assisting with recruitment. The trawl was complete with a skiing expedition to Stubai, Austria. A fantastic experience!
Further achievements came from our Army Boxing Coach SSgt (SSI) Shane

A highlight of these initiatives is the mentoring scheme, which pairs participants with seasoned mentors to guide them from insight day attendance through to the PTI course application. This supportive framework has shown promising results, with mentees already progressing to the PTI course.
The success and enthusiasm for the
scheme underscores its value in fostering
a supportive and informative path for
aspiring female PTIs. With the next insight
day planned for September 2024, the
ASPT continues to build on this successful
foundation, further encouraging women to

The year has also allowed the department to be involved in various cultural visits and team building events, many of which organised by our internal “Party Planner”
