been established and through the guidance of the instructors, the more proficient of the group began to practice the skilful art of lead climbing. Others were more than content with completing the various routes already provided. Throughout the course of the week, the views of the Span- ish countryside were utterly breathtaking, with vast rolling hills and a clear sea stretching to the horizon. By the end of the week each OCdt felt as though they had improved in themselves and had also enjoyed the journey. They had also seen their peers take in personal improvements.
During the time not spent on the rocks, the Cadets found enough to occupy the time, by broadening horizons with reading or some extra PT in the pool by the accommodation. They also managed to visit a local waterfall and were able to practice various methods of water entry from height, with various levels of success. Overall, the trip allowed individuals the chance to move out of comfort and into their stretch zones, pro- viding the chance to work under pressure. This, combined with a strong team ethos, afforded all participants a strong sense of accomplishment during the travel back to the UK after a success- ful week of conquering wall faces.
