       Maj Will Rose
This has proved to be another busy year for D Company with overseas deployments, exercises with a healthy mix of Adventure Training opportunities and some interesting Military Aid to the Civil Authority (MACS) taskings as well.
Coy 2IC, Capt Rich Peacock mobilised on Op SHADER, whilst the bulk of the coy deployed to Lithuania on Ex IRON WOLF,
a multinational, Lithuanian led Battlegroup exercise. Sgt James Holmes and Cpl
Josh Grant deployed to Croatia assisting 156 Regt RLC on Ex SAVA STAR and the OC and Pte Daniel Goodall both explored Corsham Mines on Ex SPEARPOINT a multi-capbadged Army Reserves training camp led by 20 Armoured Brigade Combat Team.
Core “green” training continued with FIBUA training carried out at Caerwent Training Area, live firing ranges in Catterick, where LCpl Daniel Legge from Sandbach won “Top Shot” in the Bn Shooting competition, and a commendable performance by members of the Cambrian Patrol team (Ptes Spencer Latham, Jonny Baxter and Chris Alcock) for taking on the challenge.
Our congratulations go to 2Lt Tom Hulme from Cheadle who, as home grown talent from D Coy, commissioned from RMAS. Also, to Ptes Jo Boote from Macclesfield and Dave Brinton from Winsford who both passed PJNCO Cadres and to CSgt Ian Edwards-Jones from Loggerheads who completed the CQMS course.
Away from our core business, eight members of the coy took part in the pilot High Readiness Reserve UK Resilience task, LCpl Ross Dawson from Warrington supported the Farnborough International Air Show and Pte Andrew Bradley from Stevenage provided catering support for the Army Expo. Meanwhile, the OC WO2 (CSM) Paul Spilsbury mobilised to support the UK Border Force following the threat of industrial action by the Agency.
Adventurous Training opportunities were offered to the coy across Europe with
five members deploying to Italy skiing, hill walking taking place in Brecon Beacons, mountain biking in North Wales, quad biking in Derbyshire, go karting in Lichfield and LCpl Legge completing the Athens Marathon!
We bid farewell to LCpl Anthony Rook (from Stone) who retired from AR service after completing in excess of 20 years
of service and to Sgt Ash McGraw who handed over the PSI appointment to Sgt Connor Ball. Additionally, we offer a warm welcome to 2Lt Harry Connor who joins us from Birmingham University Officer Training Corps and joins our Machine Gun Platoon in Burton.
