Lynn’s Butterfly Garden – a big thank you...
We would like to start with a big thank you
to all the local companies for their kind generosity to help create my wife’s, our mum’s, my daughter’s, final wish for the children of Thrapston Primary School by turning a piece of disused ground into a fantastic place of tranquility, love, learning and enjoyment – Lynn’s Butterfly Garden and Mud Kitchen.
A big thank you also to all our family and friends who have helped and supported us throughout the transformation in producing Lynn’s amazing vision.
The garden could not have been achieved without the fantastic support shown from the generosity of you all via Lynn’s Just Giving page, which achieved over the £5000 target. With you purchasing Lynn’s Butterfly hoodies this took the total over £7500.
It was officially opened by our good family friend and local mayor Val Carter on May 11th, which was a very special date as it was 30 years to the day Lynn and I first met.
The children of Thrapston Primary School have been using Lynn’s Butterfly Garden and Mud Kitchen ever since, having hours of fun and learning and said:
“I love the Butterfly Lodge”
“I feel safe and like the cushions” “Mrs Wesby was a lovely lady”
“I get so happy and get so muddy” “I like the flowers, so do the bees”

I have had the privilege of reading various stories to the children within Lynn’s Butterfly Lodge. This has been very emotional, but lovely to be able to do something that my wife loved to do on a daily basis.
“Losing our wonderful Lynn was a painful time for all of us. Lynn was and always will be a cherished member of our school family. We are eternally grateful to Lynn’s family, friends and all of the businesses for the work they have done to create Lynn’s Butterfly garden, Lynn’s Lodge and the fabulous mud kitchen. This beautiful space has been created as a place where not only children and adults, who knew and loved her can spend time, but a memorial that will touch the lives of many families to come.” Pauline Turner, Headteacher.
Thrapston Primary School has been fantastic with ongoing help and support given to us as
a family and with helping achieve something amazing for thousands of children to enjoy for years to come in Lynn’s memory.
Love you all Nick, Sam, Bailey and Sheila.
