 Annual Camp Report
Once again this year, Derbyshire cadets moved out to North Yorkshire for ten
days of action and activity during Annual Camp. The County were based at Deverill Barracks, just outside of Ripon. Deverill is a well equipped camp on a busy Army base with all the facilities needed to entertain the cadets for a busy few days.
Apart from the usual APC subjects such as shooting, first aid, map and compass and drill, the cadets enjoyed overnight fieldcraft exercises in the three field areas close to the camp. A packed Activities Day was also set up for each company, involving archery, mountain biking, clay pigeon shooting, paintball and team games.
This year’s visit was to Lightwater Valley, where the cadets had a great time scaring
themselves on ‘the ultimate rollercoaster’ and other gravity-defying rides.
During the camp, a number of smaller activities were laid on for those cadets who were keen, including an indoor climbing package, a kayaking package and a visit
to RAF Leeming, where the cadets had a tour of the facilities. The highlight of the visit was the fire station, where the cadets were allowed to operate the high-pressure water jet.
Achievements this year include
D Company taking ‘Champion Company’; Belper being awarded the Lucas Tooth Trophy and Eckington receiving ‘Most Improved Detachment’. Congratulations to them all. Another great Annual Camp and more happy memories.
        Cadet Skill at Arms Meeting
The weekend of 15/16th September 2012 saw another successful Cadet Skill at Arms meeting for Derbyshire ACF. In all, the County won the Earl Roberts Match, the Montgomery of Alamein Match, the Section Attack Match and was feted as overall champions of CADSAAM 2012. VERY well done to all who took part.
