                                 Museum Unsung Hero Award
Jeff Elson of The Staffordshire Regiment Museum has been recognised by the Arts Fund as a Museum Unsung Hero. He is pictured at the British Museum flanked by Dani Pritchard (Staffords Museum Curator) and his wife Jan. Jeff, a third generation Stafford, has been a Museum Volunteer for years and set up the Museum’s highly effective Research Team –19 June 2012.
  El Alamein Seventieth Anniversary Service Saturday 27th October 2012
This took place at Westminster Abbey. We are proud to say that Mr Les Stelfix, aged 99 from the Cheshire Regiment Association attended this national event, with his carer, Mr. Peter Kearnes. The 2nd Battalion, The Cheshire Regiment and 14th Battalion, The Sherwood Foresters were present in this decisive battle, which was one of the turning points of the war.

The Combat Arms Regatta
Lt. Col Andy Hadfield wrote an interesting article about this event which took place at Seaview, Isle of Wight from 21–23 May. The Mercian Team which began with a three man crew, later reduced to two, managed to come a very creditable first in the Infantry and second in the Combat Arms, out of 24 teams. This was over seven races.

  The Olympic Torch Relay
The 3 MERCIAN Colour Party in Tamworth Castle Grounds with members of The Staffordshire Regiment Association. This picture was taken was in the Heroes’ Grove, where the Mercian Regiment Memorial stands. Tamworth got this event absolutely right, thousands of people attended a well planed lively occasion and the Colour Party were in the centre of the action – 30 June 2012
