The pandemic did not deter Devon Cadets from pursuing the Duke of Edin- burgh’s Awards; instead, they found new and ingenious ways to complete their various sections.
LCpl Jessica Sully, 15, also donned her sporting gear each day to take part in the 80km walk/run for her Silver Physical and Skill sections. She also took part in the A Company Challenge competition of 99 miles (the total distance between the 10 detachments of A Company) helping to raise more than £300 for the ABF The Soldiers Charity. Tiverton Detachment ACF were recently presented with the Revision Trophy for fundraising by Lt Col (Retd)

REMEMBRANCE
The November Period of Remem- brance also suffered causing
many changes to both how we remembered our Fallen, and to our representation at Freedom Town Civic Services. Families of our Fallen were informed of the changes this year, and in most cases watched the innovative RIFLES online Regimental Service of Remembrance. Wreaths were placed in all our Freedom Towns before the second lockdown where civic services were not taking place, and soldiers from D Coy, 6 RIFLES attended the Liskeard Service of Remembrance for the first time prior to our formal Freedom of the town celebrations.
Bodmin Council and the local Chairman of the Royal British Legion held a small Remembrance Service
at the DCLI War Memorial outside
The Keep, Bodmin on Remembrance Sunday. The Lord Lieutenant Edward Bolitho laid the first wreath, followed by Brigadier Gage Williams, Major Hugo White and Mr Nigel James (Pic 3 & 4). The High Sheriff Kate Holborow, the Mayor of Bodmin Councillor Jeremy Cooper, local Chairman of the Royal British Legion Mr Derek Coade and Staff Sergeant Jo Chapman also laid wreaths. The Bishop of Truro the Rt Rev’d Philip Mountstephen and the Rev’d Paul Holley said Prayers. A very able Bugler played Last Post and Reveille and there were four Standards on Parade led by Mr Roger Hunwicks. The small party then moved from The Keep to the Town War Memorial in Priory Park where another service was held, and the two-minute silence observed at 11.00 o’clock. Although both Services were much reduced in numbers, they were none the less, most poignant.
