FIVE GUNNERS GET A
 NEW INSIGHT
By SI Sam Atkin
Five Cadets from Waltham Detachment were lucky to attend the Royal Artillery Cadet Insight Camp (RACIC) held at Kingston Park. The camp was a packed three days hosted by 101st Regiment Royal Artillery giving affiliated cadets an overview on roles and capability within the Royal Artillery.
The cadets were able to learn about the various Gunner roles and got hands on with some of the equipment used by the Royal Artillery. They learnt about MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System), direct fire drills and enhanced map reading skills.
All the cadets had an amazing experience
They were also treated to weapon and vehicle stands, and presentations by serving Royal Artillery personnel and even got to try the DCCT (Dismounted Close Combat Trainer).
The cadets were all successful in testing at the end of the camp and earned a Royal Artillery badge that can be worn on their uniforms.
All the cadets had an amazing experience, and we thank the 101st Regiment Royal Artillery for hosting it and giving us the opportunity.
 MANVERS POPPY DISPLAY
Mexborough Detachment help residents show their appreciation
By SSI Donna Nixon
The poppy has been a symbol of Remembrance for over 100 years and the Armed Forces risked everything to protect our way of life. This year the Manvers Residents Association have sponsored a display to honour their sacrifice and Mexborough detachment went along to help out.
Cadets from Mexborough Detachment helped to attach the poppies on lampposts along Manvers Way for everyone to see. They were shown a lot of appreciation from local traffic by drivers beeping horns in appreciation and people saying thanks as they walked their dogs or riding along Manvers Way on their bikes.
The displays started at the roundabout next to the boating lake and went all the way up past Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) Dearne Valley - Old Moor.
Cadet Lance Corporal Michael Goodyear said: "it felt good to be part of this knowing these poppies will be seen by many".
