Cadets Receives Top Award in the Army Cadet Force
By 2Lt Nicola Boyce and SI Sam Atkin
A remarkable young leader, Cadet Sergeant Major Keiron Parker has recently achieved the pinnacle of his cadet career by completing the challenging Master Cadet Course at Cadet Training Centre, Frimley Park. This marks a significant milestone in the Army Cadet Force; the Master Cadet Course is known as the highest achievement within the ACF, requiring dedication, skill, and a commitment to excellence. Cadet Sergeant Major Parker's successful completion of this demanding course reflects not only his personal commitment but also his exceptional leadership within the cadet community. After receiving his course report,
he was appointed as a Master Cadet by the Commandant, solidifying his status as an exemplar within the ACF.
The accomplishment was celebrated during the
A Company Alpha Trophy Competition Weekend, where Cadet Sergeant Major Parker received
not only the prestigious Master Cadet Certificate
but also a well-deserved promotion to Sergeant Major. As the commander of the East Hull Team,
he showcased his leadership prowess by guiding the team to success, winning the inter-detachment Drill competition for the second consecutive year. In addition to the Drill competition victory, the East Hull Alpha Trophy Team, under his leadership, secured an impressive second place in the competition. This dual success not only highlights the high standard of Cadet Sergeant Major Parker's skills but also the positive impact he has on his fellow cadets.
E Company Cadet, Company Sergeant Major Samuel Shackleton also successfully completed the Master Cadet course.
Established in 1989, the aim of the Master Cadet Course is to broaden and develop further the leadership, instructional and administrative
responsibilities of 4-star cadets, with the intention of making better use of their
abilities.
The week was extremely
physically and mentally challenging,
temperatures were freezing overnight on the exercise phase and cadets were
exhausted after completing a 24 hour STAG duty.
Cdt CSM Shackleton said to anyone looking to attend the Master Cadet Course: "be
prepared to push yourself and don't hold back".
Waltham DC Sam Atkin said "We are all very proud of CSM Shackleton, he has worked hard towards his goals
these past 18 months. He continues to be a committed cadet and role model both at detachment and in E Company
and we are pleased to share his success on Master Cadet.
  MUSICAL BRILLIANCE
IN YORK
 By Lt James Wood
The Hull Band and Drums were
at York Racecourse performing
for the RFCA Yorkshire
and the Humber's Defence
Employer Recognition Scheme
Silver Awards. The band performed a short selection of pieces while the drummers wowed the audience with their display of precision drumming, something which we are rightly very proud of.
Our cadets also had the opportunity to hear the excellent Trombone Quartet from The Band of the Royal Yorkshire Regiment who were also performing at the event.
