HULL’S MEMORIAL TO LOST TRAWLERMEN
The Hull Sea Cadets were invited to take part in the Unveiling and the Blessing
of the City’s Memorial to the Lost Trawlermen of Hull. We took our Standards and Bell to mark the start and end of the 2 minutes silence; and booklets and flowers were handed out to the guests. It has taken 20 years to achieve this memorial which pays tribute to 6,000 Hull fishermen who lost their lives at sea. The steel sculpture depicts 13 fishermen,
and stands within a wider ceremonial area designed
as a ship’s bow. Benches and memorial plaques have been placed around the site on the riverfront of St Andrew’s Quay.
