Although not open, distant views of the Hall can be seen from country lanes nearby, whilst the gatehouse, which still stands at the end of the road passing through Thorpe Achurch is shown on the postcard dated 1923 shown above.
Between 1928 and 1943, the Great Western Railway built the 4900 Class steam locomotives, known as the Hall Class, with over 250 engines
entering service. These were designed by Charles Collett and were 4-6-0 mixed traffic engines. Number 6927 was named Lilford Hall and is pictured on an original film negative (EDF Collection).
