2022 is the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen
A tree planting campaign across the United Kingdom known as ‘The Queen’s Green Canopy’ has been launched to thank Her Majesty for her exceptional service, celebrate her Platinum Jubilee and promote the importance of trees to the environment through the encouragement of tree planting and tree preservation across the Nation.
All across the United Kingdom people are being encouraged to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’ creating a network of individual or specimen trees, avenues, copses and woodlands in honour of The Queen’s 70 years of service. As well
as inviting people to plant new trees, existing woodland will be dedicated to the QGC by erecting commemorative plaques to mark the occasion and preserve forests for the future
in The Queen’s name. The campaign will see
communities, charities, churches, schools, youth groups, city, town and parish councils and many others planting trees across the four nations.
In terms of timings, the first planting phase will be from October 2021 to April 2022
and the Platinum Jubilee Official National Celebration Weekend is on the 3rd to the 6th of June 2022.
