FUNDRAISING From Star Awards to Shoeboxes...the Rotary Club
Hopefully by the time you read this, the club will have restarted its regular meetings in person and we will also be starting a range
of other activities. Whilst that has not been possible, we have continued to meet via Zoom. We have also continued to support the local foodbanks and have donated over £3,000 since the pandemic began, to support the valuable work they do for the people of Thrapston, Raunds and Irthlingborough. Help at the
local vaccine centre and Sailability has also continued.
Whilst the Rotary Club will not have its
own stall at the Thrapston Charter Fair, the Thrapston Rotary Community Shoe Box Appeal will be represented. We hope that you will support this superb scheme.
September marks the start of the new school year and it is also the time that Rotary starts
to plan for youth events and competitions. Although each competition has separate rules, entries can usually come from individuals
and groups, via youth groups, music teachers or schools. There are separate age ranges for junior, intermediate and senior ages. Young

people from the Thrapston and Raunds area and individuals and groups, especially groups or individuals from Thrapston Primary School and Manor School in Raunds, have done well in our local club competitions and have then gone on to win district and even regional competitions. This year our club hopes to be able to run the following:
• Rotary Young Musician
• Rotary Young Writer
• Rotary Young Photographer
We are also keen to restart offering Rotary Star Awards to primary-age children in our area. Usually used by primary schools to reward children for acts of good citizenship, we have been able to award special certificates and other rewards to young people whom the school and Headteacher decide deserve special rewards.
We would be very keen to hear from schools that might be interested in this scheme. Please contact 01933 624527 for details of any of the above youth competitions and activities.
Further details of the Club and about Rotary can be found on the Thrapston and Raunds Rotary Club Facebook page.
