Anne Weir is a host family for international students in the UK.
“I live alone in a quiet, rural location and felt
I could offer children a place to recharge their batteries on their school break so I contacted Pippa’s Guardians and became a host for students studying at schools near my home.
“Pippa’s Guardians looks after international students studying at boarding schools in the UK. As part of their service, they find students families to stay with for their holidays. They match students to families with similar interests or personalities.
“The aspect I enjoy most is getting to know the children and building a trusting relationship with them. Some can initially be quite reserved, but I find it incredibly rewarding when they feel more at home and their personalities shine through.
“I hosted a girl from Singapore, she was polite
and helpful and a real pleasure to have around. She studied hard and even cooked us a meal as part
of her school work which was a great success. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend being a host for Pippa’s Guardians.”
