Company HQ – Maj Michell I write this as another busy year comes
to an end for the soldiers of C Company, with more change on the horizon for 2019. The Company has excelled in everything
it has been involved in over the last 12 months: a testament to the professionalism, hard work and dedication of the people in it. Taking command in September 2018, over the Autumn I have been constantly impressed by the way the men and
women of C Company have dealt with every challenge facing them – a testament no doubt to the excellent leadership of
the NCOs and Officers, most notably my predecessor Major Andy Ryan. In addition, Maj Matt Thorogood, who stewarded
the Company through the summer between
Andy’s departure and my own arrival, was critical in setting us up for success on Ex SAIF SAREEA 3. We wish him and Andy the best of luck for the future.
The Company began 2018 by assuming the lead for the UK Standby Battalion over the New Year period, which

For Ex URBAN
DAWN 2, C Company formed a highly aggressive enemy
force whose role was to comprehensively destroy B Coy daily (the
is by now a familiar feeling for many in
the Company. The focus for the remainder of the first part of the year was the URBAN DAWN series of exercises. C Company led the first exercise centred on Copehill Down
success of which is hotly debated between the two Companies).
Thereafter, the focus for the remainder of the year was preparation for, and deployment on, Ex SAIF SAREEA 3
